> Hi, has anyone ever sat in the "golden circle" section at Great
> Woods? I have a chance to get tickets for Aerosmith in this
If seeing the band is of primary importance, this is great. I saw the
Kinks there. However, I'd never do it again, because it was just way
too darn loud. Remember, the band is trying to reach the lawn :^)
Also, find out how many rows are in the Golden Circle. I think it
used to be the first 10, in which case, even if you get 10, that's
cool. But they may extend it farther for some shows now.
And one other thing: the computer still picks your seat unless you
get a freindly operator. Which means that you might not feel the
WAY higher price was worth it if you're way on the far edge of the
row, even if it is row 1.

| As of last year, Golden Circle seats were ALL of section 2. Used to be
the first 15-20 rows of Sec. 2. Might be even bigger this year. I
believe sections 1 & 3 are part of the Golden Circle for Roger Daltry.
Call Great Woods or ticketmaster and ask?

I saw the B-52's there two years ago from Golden circle seats, third
row, on the left side. It was great.
Last year I got Golden circle tickets for Midnight Oil. Much further
back about 20 rows, but directly in front of the stage.
If you like the band, I think they're worth it. Since you never know
where your seats are when you place the order, it's the only way
to at least make sure you get something reasonable. I've been
to many other great woods shows, where I paid the top price for
regular, non-golden circle seats, and some of them were so bad I
felt like I was getting ripped off. The extra $$ is worth it in
my opinion.
It is loud down front, but I bring ear protection. It does the
trick and I still enjoy the band.

636.4 | if sound quality is important... | WEORG::ROGOFF | Barry Rogoff, IDC, ZKO2-1/R34, 381-2957 | Fri May 13 1994 17:55 | 15 |
| IMHO, sound quality at Great Woods depends largely on how close to
center you are. It also depends on the sound system, of course, but
you can't do anything about that.
This opinion is based on walking around the entire venue during several
different concerts and listening carefully. As you move away from the
center, you start getting live spots and dead spots. The dead spots
sound terrible. It makes little difference how close you are.
When Great Woods first opened, it didn't have the reflective panels
on the ceiling and the acoustics were really terrible. Now they're
only terrible in spots. So when I buy tickets, I insist on Section 2
or Section 6.
