Last summer they played here in Knoxville Tenn., without
Dickie Betts, who was in alchohol dryout at the time. In
last weeks paper someone with the band was quoted as saying
he has replaced alchohol dependancy with Zen Buddhism. Wow.
From what I heard on the radio it sounds like if you want
to hear them having a bad night, buy the live release they
put out last year. The few songs I heard didn't sound too
good, and I love the Allman Bros.

That must be the live show at the Orpheum, I haven't heard it.
The live video release from Great Woods is a good one, tho, in
my opinion.
The thing that impressed me in person was what a good guitarist
Warren Haynes is, and how much the band relies on him.
Maybe Dickie and Rick Wakeman should get together, I wonder if
they'd have anything in common

I saw them last Summer at GW (For the 4th time). It was
disappointing to say the least. Dickie was arrested the day before
in Florida and Zach Wild was filling in. It was interesting but
as a guitarist for Ozzie, it didn't quite fit. Playing it behind
his head was just a little too much.

New Allman Brothers Band album due May 3, called "Where It All
Begins" (I think).
Also, they play Great Woods August 13/14 as part of the HORDE
Festival.

623.8 | Can't wait for the new release | ODIXIE::BRANCOLINI | | Tue Apr 26 1994 12:16 | 6 |
| Heard the same song played from the new CD, as what was played on Conan
O'brian on Peach Jam, this past Sunday night. I liked the live version
better, and usually the "brothers" play it live better anyway (IMHO).
I just received the entire tour schedule along with an opportunity to
purchase a special release CD.

623.9 | C Leavell's new group? | NAVY5::SDANDREA | Tonya Rodham Bobbit; the date from hell | Mon May 09 1994 13:57 | 6 |
| I just heard a new tune called "Hard Act to Follow". The jock says the
keyboard player is former Allman Brother Chuck Leavell (sp). I did not
catch the name of the group, but I loved the tune! Anybody got the
skinny on these guys? Is it s new group? Any other noteable members?

623.10 | Wipe the window, check the oil, dollars gas, great Allman's LP | SLOHAN::FIELDS | Strange Brew | Mon May 09 1994 14:05 | 8 |
| Steve, it might be just that easy, the Chuck Leavell Band....to check
out some earlier stuff by Chuck (before the Allmans), look for Sea Level
LPs....on the news tune, I remember seeing something on Entertainment
Tonite, a feature on Chuck at home and stuff...I don't remember
anything about a band, so Im guessing its going under his name.
this guy has played keys for Clapton,Allmans,Stones just to name a few.

| the only other thing to do is call the radio station....I heard a few
new Allamns tunes over the weekend, the one I like has a Hand Jive beat
to it...
1st time I saw Chuck, Sea level opened for Charlie Daniels back in the
late 70s....so after racking a few brain cells around Im not sure what
came 1st Sea Level or the time he was in the Allmans...I do know he
join the Allmans after Duane died....if I could remember when the
Allmans lp I mentioned in the last note came out I could pin point it
:')
I glad to see him do some solo (if thats what it is) work....hes all
over the Clapton unplugged, and 5 yrs ago toured with the stones. I'd
bet hes the most unknown known keyboard play in the world !

623.13 | And what a player! | NWACES::HICKERNELL | Good rhythms to bad rubbish | Mon May 09 1994 14:34 | 5 |
| I think Leavell joined the Allman's for the Brothers and Sisters LP
(the one with "Jessica" on it), maybe around 1973-4. Dunno when he
left, though.
