612.0. "School kids need help. Looking for copy of song w/o lyrics." by AIMHI::DEROO () Tue Feb 15 1994 23:56

Hi,

I am a coach for one of the Merrimack N.H. "Odyssey of the Mind" teams
for Mastricola Middle School. The problem the kids have to solve is called
Believable music. It involves their building some of their own instruments from
scratch with no adult assistance at all, creating a presentation and performing
a concert. As part of their solution they have a need for a version of Buster
Poindexter's song "Feeling Hot Hot Hot" with out any lyrics ( they need to
change the lyrics to make them go well with the play they will be doing as part
of all this). They asked me to locate a copy of that song with no lyrics for
them ( that's the only legal kind of help a coach can give). We thought a
Kareoke version would be easy to get but calls to all the major suppliers seem
to say that it does not exist. What we desperately need is:

1) A pointer to where I can purchase this item.

			or

2) An incredibly generous person who would be willing to play it onto a tape
recorder or IBM PC soundblaster pro file or anything that would get these kids
a copy. It would not have to be a big production....it only has to be a
recognizable background for the new lyrics ( also about 1.5 to 2 minutes of
the song is all they really need ), so a full band rendition is not what we
would expect.

If anyone can help us please send mail to AIMHI::DEROO
or call dtn 264-4304 ext 7113.
I live and work in Merrimack N.H.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Btw, it's an excellent version of the song.

612.2Thanks for the help everyone !AIMHI::DEROOThu Feb 17 1994 12:5811
I would like to thank everyone for their offers of help. Some came from as far
away as Sweden and involved offers to arrange, record and send a copy; to
advice on additional place to look; to "I have what you are looking
for and will bring it to you". All were sincere and thoughtful efforts to help
and are deeply appreciated. I now have a copy and am all set.

One thing that hasn't changed about Digital in the last few years is people's
desire to help their fellow employee's!

Thanks again to all!
Ken ( a very happy and relieved coach )
