| I thought they sounded more like REM than the Smithereens. I just
picked it up in a $4.99 used bin last week myself. After the two
singles, I thought it went downhill fast, but the hook in the chorus of
"Walk On The ocean" was worth the price. Let's see if I'm still
playing it in a few months...

| Okay - someone's gotta ask! Where'd they get the name? Does it mean
anything?
While we're at it, what mid-80's group performed "Bite the Wax
Tadpole"? Was it Stump? I remeber hearing some naminal explanation
for it but I've since forgotten.
Strange things gnaw on my brain at night and keep me awake. I can't
help it. %^P

"Bite the Wax Tadpole" is what Coca-Cola sounds like in one of the more
wide-spread Chinese dialects.

You are from SMURF? Do you know what the matter is with CLASSICAL_MUSIC
conference?
>Also, not the 1st band to use that name either....
For instance, "Big Head Toad and the Monsters" is another.
Big Head Toad and the Monsters is a great band, from Boulder,
Colorado. I have their Sister Sweetly album and I love it.
Inspite of their silly name, they make meaningful music.
All songs are very sweet and lovely. I wanted to start a Big Head
Toad and the Monsters note but I didn't think it would attract
any attention since nobody else seems to know them, even though
they do get airplay here in Canada. I discovered, over mail, that
Greg from Colorado knows and likes them but he doesn't read this
conference.
Oh well.

Actually it's "Big Head Todd and the Monsters," though I think I like your
version better. ;^)

I wish the earth beneath me would split into two and swallow me ;-)
The noters in here are so kind, they always say that my version is
more amusing or something ;-) Thanks.
So, you know them.
So, what do you think?

| Silly name for sure....
I like Big Head Todd and the Monsters and had a chance to see them this
year. They were excellent live as well.
The first Toad the Wet Sprocket is a late 70's (early 80's) metal band.

PS.
I'm on smurf but don't know about classical_music.

| Thank you! thank you! for the "Bite the Wax Tadpole" explanation. Now
it comes back to me and I can sleep at night again.
Unfortunately I've never heard the Monty Python sketch. Which
album/film/show is it from? Context please.
Thanks,
- Dave

| Looks like a new Toad the Wet Sprocket album is now out.As far as the
last one:

I still am playing it. It has some weak tracks, but I have grown to
enjoy "I Will Not Take These Things for Granted" quite a bit.
