544.0. "Ambrosia" by HGRD01::STEVELIU () Fri Oct 29 1993 02:08

Any fans for the group Ambrosia ?

His early song "How much I feel" is still a classic radio hit.

I like the stuff on their 'One-Eighty' album. 'Biggest Part of Me',
'You're the only Woman', 'Kamikaze', etc..

I have their first album, but I rarely listen to it. I can't remember
the name of it, but I remember one song was based on a Kurt Vonnegut
    Jr. novel.

I remember a lyric that goes something like "Nice, Nice, Very Nice.
So many people in the same _____?"

Oh ! yes, his "1-80" album is good. I liked those songs you listed too.

Ambrosia is in the same catagory as the Doobies Brothers in my own
classification book but each band have its own unique virtue.

"Nice, Nice, Very Nice" is taken from Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle",
although Ambrosia add a few lyrics of their own as well. The
other big FM hit from the 1st album was "Holding on To Yesterday".
Both of these are great tunes imo, and the rest of the album is
consistently strong. This album is very much in a progressive
rock vein but also with some of that 70's California "soft rock"
    influence. Recommended.

I must have read Cat's Cradle at least 5 times since teenage-hood.
Big Vonnegut fan. I guess I just have to by this "nice, nice, very
    nice" whatever that is ;-)

Cat's Cradle was one of my favorites, too. When I was younger I was
highly amused that the Grateful Dead's publishing company was "Ice Nine".

I've read "Cat's Cradle" numerous times too. The book *I* now wanna

I have a trivia for you Kurt Vonnegut Jr. (and inevitably Kilgore
Trout) fans. But I really should be putting this under MUSIC TRIVIA
topic. Meet me at note # 358.
