| | I thought they sounded terrible when they opened for Neil Young at
Great Woods last month. I think they need better sound equipment, or
more practice performing in public, or both.

I just bought the tape (because of the song 'no rain')
Even on the tape they sounded a bit rough.
	Lorna,
	How was Neil????

| | I'm not a 'dead' fan, but I really like "No Rain". It's the only cut
i've heard. Do they have more than one CD out, and is the rest of the
    album 'like' "no Rain"?

| | I'd recommend it. I like the single "No Rain", but like most of the
record even better. Blind Melon is a jammin band, they do a lot of
stretching out. That kind of stuff either works or it doesn't; in this
    case I'd say it does.

Note that while I can understand the tendency to compare them to the
Dead, I don't think they really sound like a Dead clone band. I could
see not liking the Dead and still liking this CD.

| | >> I'm not a 'dead' fan, but I really like "No Rain".

who said you had to be a dead fan to like Blind Melon? I don't see any
    similarity between the 2 bands...

    >> Do they have more than one CD out

No, this is their only cd (at the moment)...I expect a new one out
within a year...when I saw them at TT's last spring they played the
whole album and the year before they did the same. When I saw them in
Providence this spring, again they played a lot of tracks off the
album, this time with a little variation, and only a couple new ones.
I was a little disappointed that there were only a couple new songs,
I would think they would get sick of playing the same songs for 2 1/2
years....but then again, most of the crowd was only there to hear
"No Rain" and the rest of the overplayed radio hits...

They're a good band, the cd's definitely worth checking out...

maybe so... but i don't get the dead connection either. big deal if
robert hunter writes songs for blind melon... i have heard robert
hunter perform the songs that he writes for the dead, and they sound
nothing alike... the sound of a band is majorily in the performance
and not the lyrical writing... just my $.02...

| | Are you sure that Robert Hunter writes songs for Blind Melon? I always
thought it was Shannon that wrote the lyrics...

I think that I looked at the lyrical credits back when I bought the cd
but I'm not sure....I could be wrong...

| | I'm not positive if RH writes lyrics for Blind Melon - I'm pretty sure but
not absolute.
re: /brian
As for Dead Connections - I didn't say I saw a connection, I don't really
except for Garcia's guitar riffs in the song "No Rain" or whatever the title
is.....I just listed an direct connection (assuming I'm right about
it :).
As for RH tunes not sounding like the dead - that's your opinion. Not mine.
