480.1 | A "different" box set | OTOOA::ESKICIOGLU | I don't eat my fellow mammals. | Tue Aug 17 1993 23:00 | 35 |

My best friend who knows that my two favourite hobbies are music
and cooking, gave me a lovely gift combining the two: A cookbook
and a "dinner and dessert music" CD, in one.
The cookbook is written by Sharon O'Connor who is also a cellist
and the founder of the San Fransisco String Quartet.
Like a friend said, this lady has managed to combine her two
totally unrelated hobbies and still make a profit out of it ;-)
It is a very elegant "box set" (honey, I am not making fun of the
gift, I love it, I truly adore it, as a matter of fact, I keep it
with my other CD box sets, rather than keeping it in the kitchen
with my other cookbooks ;-)) with the cookbook and the CD in it.
The music is (of course) by The San Fransisco String Quartet,
including Vivaldi, Mozart, Handel, Bach, Mascagni, Strauss etc.
The recipes are for 4 to 60 people. One of the 60 people recipes
is "Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes" ;-) You take 120 (one hundred and
twenty) cherry tomatoes, cut off the top part, scoop out the
insides, stuff and serve ;-) (sweetheart, I really do cherish my
"menus and music" box, it's just that I am not going to stuff 120
cherry tomatoes ;-))

| Pierre Bensusan, the French guitarist and singer, has a book - I think it's
called "Pierre Bensusan's Guitar Book" - that has a lot of information about
his style of playing (he's the supreme master of DADGAD tuning), tunes and
songs and some of his favorite recipes.
Apparently, Pierre's love of cuisine is second only to his love of music.
Some of his tunes are named after food.

Maybe he's been eating too much because he hasn't had a new album for
about four years.

| Comeon, give me a break! I just got back from vacation and need to
lose a few pounds! Alright, Lale, you can make some borek for me if
you insist (with goat cheese, thank you!).
I, too, enjoy cooking as well as good music (I prefer Vivaldi when I
cook, but I'm not sure why)!

I prefer music I can dance to or sing along, while cooking.
But I have to admit, I lost interest in cooking ever since I
broke my arm (no, I didn't break it while cooking).
But Chuck, goat cheese ? Yuck. Sorry.
Borek is the best with spinach.
One dinner music you have to avoid is the one which will tempt the kids
to sing with their mouth full. Experience is speaking here ;-)
Do you think it would be possible for me to combine my favourite
activity weight lifting with music and make some profit out of it ?
I was thinking of dumbells that play 9th symphony when you lift
them above your head. Would that sell ?

You could get a job on Sony's loading dock...
You could carry Yngwie Malmsteen's ego around... or...
You could help with the crew that carries Michael Jackson's wallet

>You could get a job on Sony's loading dock...
Do you think they would hire a 5'4", 105 lbs female ? If they don't
I can always sue them for discrimination and still make money.
>You could carry Yngwie Malmsteen's ego around...
Who is Yngwie Malmsteen, I ask foolishly ?
> OK, next challenge pleasE!
My stamp collection and music ?

| Romantic dinners for two:
Bach - Air; Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
Catalani - Ebben, n'andro lontana
Chopin - Nocturne
Clarke - Prince of Denmark's March
Handel - Water Music Finale
Ivanovici - Anniversary Waltz
Mozart - Divertimento; Romanza
Pachalbel - Canon in D
Shostakovich - Romance
Vivaldi - Spring from the four seasons
Last time Jim gave me the music/menu (4 to 60 people) box as a gift, I
publicly made fun of it due to impossible recipes that required stuffing
of 120 cherry tomatoes. So, Jim went out and bought me another box of
the same author/cook/artist, this time it is "Dinners for Two". Recipes
just for me and my husband. And the CD contains the pieces listed
above.
This box is Volume IV. Now Jim is looking for Volumes II and III ;-)
