If you ever see Stryper's "Winter Wonderland" available on an
album, PLEASE let me know ... I've been looking for that for
about 4 years now with no luck.
Thanks!!

| re .0, I love the U2 version of "Please Come Home For Christmas." How
could they possibly want to include a Jon Bon Jovi cover instead of
U2?? Yuck.

Well, I imagine that if U2 offered a new song for this time around, they would
have taken it! U2 probably just didn't have anything to give them at this
time.
You should remember that Bon Jovi was on the first 'A Very Special Christmas'
also. And besides, keeping in mind that all profits go to children's
charities, isn't it a good idea to include a best-selling artist like Bon
Jovi?
Speaking of the first 'A Very Special Christmas' album, here's a list of
some of the songs and performers:
Back Door Santa - Bon Jovi
Run Run Rudolph - Bryan Adams
Baby Please Come Home - U2
Merry Christmas Baby - Bruce Springsteen
Silent Night - Stevie Nicks
Christmas In Hollis - Run DMC
Santa Baby - Madonna
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Pretenders
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - John Cougar Mellencamp
Santa Clause Is Coming To Town - The Pointer Sisters

| I got an 'Alternative' Xmas CD last year which was some traditional
stuff by some not-so-traditional bands, like The Rollins Band, Crash
Test Dummies, Hoodoo Gurus, and more. Some pretty interesting
renditions. Anyone else hear of this?

I just picked this up last week at Disc Diggers ($.99!), but I haven't given
it a listen yet. Any good??? (There was also another alternative one there
that I picked up also, for the same price - this one had Squeeze and Timbuk
Three on it, among others.

You can get "Father Christmas" on the "Slow Dancing" compilation.
It was originally just a single.

the best Xmas disk I've ever heard is 'Twisted Christmas' by the
<mumble mumble> comedy troupe. Includes :
Wreck the Malls
Christmas with the King
the 12 Pains of Xmas
I'm Dressin' up Like Santa Claus ( when I get out on parole )
The Chimney Song
I Wish You Weren't Living With Us
A Visit from St. Nicholson
the last is worth the price of the whole disk.

| I think I had mentioned a while ago in this note that I had picked up two
Christmas CDs a couple months ago. Both are basically alternative music stuff,
and I thought people might like a track listing....
Just In Time For Christmas
IRS Records #13052 (1990)
-------------------------
Squeeze - Christmas Day
Rebel Pebbles - Cool Yule
Klark Kent - Yo Ho Ho
Torch Song - Hark The Herald Angels Sing
Reckless Sleeper - Every Day Will Be Like A Holiday
Steve Hunter - We Three Kings
The dB's - Home For The Holidays
Molly Johnson and Norman Orenstein - Silent Night
Deborah Holland - It Only Comes Once A Year
Timbuk 3 - All I Want For Christmas
Kennedy Rose - More Than One Night A Year
Dread Zeppelin - All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth
Wall Of Voodoo - Shouldn't Have Given Him A Gun For Christmas
I like the Reckless Sleeper tune (never heard of them, but I liked it!). The
Timbuk 3 songs I had heard a few years ago, and it's a good one. The Steve
Hunter selection is an acoustic instrumental; nice but nothing special. Molly
Johnson and Norman Orenstein's "Silent Night" is nice, with some nice harmony
guitar work on it. And the Dread Zeppelin tune is just hilarious, based on
Zep's "How Many More Times", and ending up with "Viva Las Vegas"! The Rebel
Pebbles reminded me a lot of the early Go-Gos. The Squeeze song was a bit
disappointing for me. And the dB's song was sorta country-ish, and decent.
A Lump Of Coal
First Warning/BMG Records #72705 (1991)
---------------------------------------
HooDoo Gurus - Little Drummer Boy
Crash Test Dummies - The First Noel
The Wedding Present - Stepping Into Christmas
Drunken Boat - Blue X-Mas
Divine Weeks - O Holy Night
Carnival Art - Bring A Torch Jeannette Isabella
The Primitives - Silent Night
Fresh Young Fellows - O Little Town Of Bethlehem
The Odds - Kings Of Orient
Clockhammer - Here Comes Santa Claus
Henry Rollins - 'Twas The Night Before Christmas
Haven't heard much of this CD yet. The Hoodoo Gurus sounded ok doing an
instrumental version of "Little Drummer Boy". I didn't like the male vocals
that started the Crash Test Dummies "First Noel", but once the female vocals
took over for the second verse, it was quite nice! And I hated The Wedding
Present's version of Elton John's "Stepping Into Christmas". That's as far
as I got, although I did skip ahead to hear the Henry Rollins reading of
"'Twas The Night Before Christmas", and that was.... well, interesting.....
maybe "morbid" would be a better word.....

| Bought Mojo's _Horny Holidays_
defintely interesting listening
The Grinch Song
Good King Wencelas ( he doesn't know the words, so just goes
la-la-la-la-la-la-la )
an X-rated Twas the Night Before Christmas ( "it was the night before
X-mas, and everything was all F_cked up!" )
the versions of Jingle Bells we used to sing when we were 7 years old
(jingle bells, batman smell, robin layed an egg . . .)
Trim Yo' Tree ( with a blatant sexual reference )
It's Christmastime ( with a blatant sexual reference )
It'll be a Holiday ( with a sexually blatant reference )
Happy Birthday ( to Jesus -natch- )
-all in all, a totally offensive, immature and amoral album.
But if you thrive on stuff like that ( like me ), then by all means
go pick it up.

| Has anyone heard of a couple of Christmas tunes called "Santa's Coming
In A Whirlybird" and "(Look Around You) It's Christmastime". I heard
these songs on the radio about 20 years ago(!) and have never
heard them since. Any help appreciated! Thanks. Lila
