| I wouldn't consider it overnight success since they've all be in
different bands prior to their current incarnation. They've all been
slogging away since about '85 - '86. Yes, Eddie Vedder has a great
voice, a very distinctive style. Check out their Unplugged MTV half
hour for an incredible version of "Black".

| Anyone else notice that Eddie Vedder looks more vexed trying not to say
the word f**k in MTV performaces than the censors would if he'd said
it? As overplayed as some of the cuts on "Ten" are, I still love them
just as much. As far as I can tell (or am concerned) there isn't a bad
track on the disc, and things only get better live. I've only seen
them twice, once opening for the Chili Peppers, and once at
Lollapalooza, but those are two of the best shows I've seen. It will
be interesting to see what they come up with next after such a solid
album. You know what they say about the record industry, you've got
your entire life to come up with the first album, but only 6 months to
come up with the second.

| Yes, this is a GREAT disc. Every song is cool. Does anyone know
if they tour at all? I would like to see them. Not having cable
or MTV, I don't get to see many videos. Have they done any? Are
there any concert vids of their's out? Black is my favorite off
the disc...my .02$ too...

| They have videos out for "Alive", "Even Flow", "Black", and "Jeremy",
so far that I have seen. I agree, not a bad song on the disc, so I
won't try to choose a favorite. I suspect they're pretty much always
touring. I haven't seen them around Boston since Lolapallooza '92, but
I know they were in NYC for New Year's eve. If I had to guess, I might
say they'd be working on a new album, but who knows?? If you can get
to see them, GO!! No matter what. One of the best, most high
intensity shows I've seen.

I was over in the states for most of March, and I read an article in some
magazine that the lads were working on their second album. They also toured
Europe last year, I didn't go see them... I had no idea at the time who they
were and what kind of music they played. Iam sure I'll get to see them soon, but
first up its the Boss in Munich May 14th followed by U2 June 4th same place just
outdoors......
all the best.....

them a lesson in how to play guitar. Man, did he blow those
guys away when he joined them on stage! Highlight of the nigt

307.10 | Eddie was about a "3" | WBC::DEADY | Big Time Sensuality | Sat Sep 04 1993 12:36 | 13 |
| Eddie did seem "out of it" during the performances. I thought I saw
him grab a bottle after the Neil Young set. During the post show on
MTV, Eddie made a complete ass of himself (IMHO), it even appeared as
thought his band mates were embarrased for him.
Before I get jumped on I LIKE Pearl Jam, and do not have an axe
to grind with him or his behavior, to each their own. I also thought
MTV's Kurt Loder (sp), and the whole post-show was a waste, again
nothing against MTV, to each their own.
I did not see the whole show, however, I did tape it. Neil Young
did put on a great show (IMHO), he really seemed like he was having
a GREAT time, unlike some of the other performers.

307.11 | Pearl Jam / Doors | WBC::DEADY | everything's fine... just fine... | Sat Oct 23 1993 10:33 | 7 |
| Is Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder the 90's version of Jim Morrison? Both
are/were rather unique lyrists. IMHO. Both are/were members of well
known bands, also rather good bands -- again IMHO. And Eddie seems
to be getting similar press treatment to what Morrison received. And
lastly they seem to have similar "characters" on and off stage.

Eddie is on the cover of Time magazine this week (I don't think he's
real comfortable with that given some of his quotes in the article).
The article is quite good, sheds a lot of light on the so-called
alternative rock movement (But, it's still rock and roll to me).

I think the 10 lp is definately a better album, but I like the
2nd effort a lot too. It's heavy, with a taste of funk. I think my
fave off that album is Rats. Cool bass...Actualy, a lot of cool
bass... Just my o..

Yet pretty derivative of more than a few other tunes.
I think Vs. is a lot more pop than 10. In the grunge war, I had to
give Pearl Jam the nod over Nirvana with "Ten," but Nirvana kept more
with the program on the next releases.
I guess I like Rearview Mirror best, but I wish Crazy Mary was on
VS.
