290.0. "Camel" by PEKING::GERRYT () Tue Aug 25 1992 13:39

    I've just seen a new album by Camel called Diamonds & Dust...actually
    it looks to be Andy Latimer mostly....

    I thought they'd past away ages ago, but looks like he's trying to
    wring a bit more dosh out of the old faithful.
    Sounds a bit too laid-back compared to their earlier offerings, and of
    course Pete Bardens is not in the line-up. However, some good melodies
    in there.

    Anyone else any comments on it?

Sorry to divert the topic but I once saw a live performance by Camel
on television (PBS) that completely blew me away. It included Mel
Collins, who used to play sax for King Crimson in the Lizard/Islands
era. If anyone has a copy, let's arrange a trade.

I have the live album, Pressure Points, which is great, but it's not
the same as the video.

290.2I was there!WELCLU::BROWNIThe Man who sold the WorldThu Nov 12 1992 13:1018
    Bit late I know, but they played a 20th Anniversary concert at the Town
    and Country Club on September the 20 something (forgotten exactly which
    day- a Thursday definately!).

    The line-up included Pete Bardens, Colin Bass (playing bass funnily
    enough) and they played two sets. The first one was the entire Diamonds
    & Dust album, and the second comprising of oldies, including a storming
    redition of Lady Fantasy. I thought they were briliant, Andy Latimer is
    really a master of the axe. They were on in total about two and a half
    hours.

    Crowd comprised of ageing hippies and a splattering of youngsters who
    looked as if they were going to a rave afterwards.

    Only dissapointment was they never played the title track off
    'Stationary Traveller'.

290.3Snow Goose on CD?AIMHI::KERRMy Other Car Is A ZamboniMon Aug 09 1993 18:259

    I hope this is the same Camel, but does anyone know if The Snow Goose
    (I think that was the title) has ever been released on CD? I have the
    LP, and it is getting a bit worn. I'd like to replace it with a CD
    but have never seen it in any music shops.

    Thanks,
    Al

    Thanks, I'm in the U.S, so I'll look for it in the import section.
