There's a CD out that collects the original versions of all the songs
the film covered (the title includes the word "Commitments" -- "Before
the Commitments" or something like that?). I saw it at Tower-Cambridge
on Sunday, looked like a good collection.

There are many good collections of the Atlantic & Stax artists among
those covered in the movie -- for example, Vol.6 of a series of single
CDs called "Atlantic Rhythm & Blues". You might find more pointers in
the AKOFIN::AFTER_HOURS (Blues and R&B) conference; a couple of noters
were raving about another single disc of Atlantic soul highlights. - Jay

| | Wow, there are plenty of places to start, but .1 just gave you
two of the best...the Atlantic Series is particularly fantastic.

Rhino Records also has a series called Soul Shots, which covers much of
the same ground. Rhino has also released a 14 volume series of 70's
soul music (I can't recall the series title).
