| I first started listening to Jimmy in the early 70's during my first
trip to Key West. Duval St. back then was something that had to be
experienced to understand it. Although Key West has gone totally
commercial, luckily Jimmy hasn't !! (unless you count his club in
Key West, Margaritaville). I still manage to catch his show once a
year. I'd rather see Jimmy than any of the over-blown, over-hyped,
laser-light, smoke-bomb shows that cost a fortune.

| I'm sort of a Florida DECcie in that I spent my entire life until I
came to work for DEC in south Florida. So I left there to come to
Massachussetts, and still trying to figure out why. But by nature of
being a Floridian, I love Buffett. My last Florida plates were 'Save
the Manatee' plates.
re: root note.
Other than his huge, following, one of the reasons for Jimmy's per show
take, is that he demands something like $100,000 per show (that's
American dollars), second, I believe, to Sting's $125,000 per show (I
read this in a booking publication (don't ask which one, I don't
remember).

According to some article I read (in Publishers Weekly, I think), the new
Buffett book (the sea plane one) is finished and will be published in
August...I have no idea why the delay.
My daughter has both of Jimmy/Savanna Jane's books, "Jolly Mon" and
"Trouble Dolls". Of course, I bought both of them for her...I'm glad
I have a child so that I had an excuse ! Trouble Dolls is excellent, right
up there with Jolly Mon, which I believe won a couple of awards.
Another interesting thing I read the other day in the Boston Globe (in of
all places, the Sports section), is that in 1992 Jimmy took home more
money than ANY major league baseball player...that means that he took home
somewhere in the 4-5 million range...not bad.

I'll just have to wait til Great Woods comes around . . . . but,
some day soon I'm gonna go where it's WARM!
Anyhow, I've got a question----in the last Coconut Telegraph, they
advertised a record called "South of the Real World." Anyone out
there have that record? Is is just Buffett or a bunch of other
folks too? Right now, up here in New Hampster with the Montreal
Express roaring down the tubes, I'd give anything to be south of
the real world.

One is the standard black and white glossy promo deal. The other is a
"bootleg" of sorts, I guess you might call it. It was shot in Key West
in color and JB is standing in front of the Mic with Acoustic in hand
singing away....there is an A1A and a Margaritaville sign behind him.
Great photo!! Now, to get them signed....

Re Jimmy Buffet music at a wedding reception: Are you having a band or
a DJ ? You can probably make this argument for a lot of musicians, but
somehow I don't think Buffets' songs would sound quite right unless

"On a slow boat to China" from the "Somewhere Over China" album ?

I think you are going to have to be a bit more specific...JB has 20-odd
albums and quite a few songs that could be called "Love Songs". If the
song is one of his more "popular" ones, you might be thinking of
"Grapefruit, Juicy Fruit"...this is actually a song about hangovers, but
it has a sentimental chorus that goes:
"you know it get's so damn lonely,
when you're on a plane alone,
and if I had the money, honey
I'd strap you in beside me,
And never ever leave you,
leave you at home all alone and crying"
sound familiar ?
And yes, Jimmy should be at Great Woods sometime in august. At last years
show he said that he would be back again this year. He typically tries
to make Great Woods his last show(s), as he likes to vacation on Nantucket
immediatly afterwards..

107.30 | Stars Fell on Alabama? | JARETH::WIGGINS | | Tue Mar 31 1992 14:19 | 25 |
| OK, here's my guess at the love song suitable for wedding first dance:
"The Stars Fell on Alabama"
Jimmy didn't write it but does a great rendition of it. It's
on a few albums back---maybe "Last Mango" or "Coconut Telegraph"?
Chorus goes something like:
"I never thought in my imagination
A situation so heavenly;
We fell in love where no one else could enter
And in the center was just you and me . . . dear."
I'll look up what album it's on in case you want to check it out.
BTW, I remember reading in the Coconut Telegraph that, around New
Years, Jimmy was going to be in Nashville "awaiting the birth of his
second child." I didn't know he was married again? (Of course, I
realize that's not necessarily a requirement, but . . . .) Anyhow,
figured some of you Parrotheads might be interested to know that
there's another Buffett on the scene.

Contrary to various rumors posted recently, Buffett IS touring this summer.
The name of the show is reportedly "Recession Recess." I called the
Margaritaville Store this morning (305-292-8402) and they had the following
dates: (Note that they have only one date for each city, where there will
probably be more than one show in many places).
Buffett's 1992 "Recession Recess" Summer Tour (as of April 13, 1992)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
May 21 Richmond, VA
May 22 Columbia, MD (Merriweather Post)

June 5 Dallas, TX
June 6 Houston, TX
June 9 Birmingham, AL
June 10 Atlanta, GA
June 13-14 Raleigh, NC
June 16 Homedale, NJ
June 19 Charlotte, NC
June 21 Nashville, TN
June 23 Cleveland, OH
June 26 Indianapolis, IN
June 30 Minneapolis, MN
July 1 Milwaukee, WI
July 3,5 Detroit, MI (Pine Knob)
July 7 Jones Beach, NY
July 9 Mansfield, MA
Aug 14 Chicago, IL
Aug 16 St. Louis, MO
Aug 18 Denver, CO
Aug 21 Portland, OR
Aug 22 Seattle, WA
Aug 23 Vancouver, BC
Aug 25 Salt Lake City, UT
Aug 28 Mountainview, CA
Aug 29 Irvine, CA
Aug 30 Phoenix, AZ
Sept 1 Los Angeles, CA
NOTE:
- This is all the information I have. I don't know how many shows he will
play in each city.
- This information was given to me today by the Margaritaville Store and
is only as accurate as that.
- I don't know where he will play in each city.
- I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA when or where any tickets will go on sale.
- I recently posted an incorrect date (July 7) for the Detroit shows.
I heard this on the radio and it was WRONG. The correct dates
(July 3rd and 5th) are in the list above.
The best source for additional information is the Margaritaville Store
(305-292-8402). There is also an 800 number (800-COCOTEL), but it is for
orders only -- do not call it for concert info.
Tickets should be going on sale soon at most venues. If you are like me
and like to sit in the front, now is the time to start looking. If anyone
knows when/where tickets are going on sale for any of the shows, please
post. In particular, I am interested in the Richmond, Columbia, Cincinnati,
Charlotte, Cleveland, Detroit, and Chicago shows.
If you have never been to a Buffett concert, make plans to see him this
summer. If you have been to a Buffett concert, I know you are already
making plans to see him this summer...

| The new CD/Cassette set is due out around May 26 or so, I know this
because 2 of my Parrothead friends picture is going to be in the
cover!!! Any word on tickets yet??? If anyone gets a chance go
see Buffett in Cincinnati!!! The Parrotheads there are of a
different caliber, everyone is in proper attire (unlike here!!!).
It is also one of JB's favorite towns and he shows it. I am from
Cinti. and speak from many years of boatdrinks.

Have you ever been to one of the Great Woods shows ? I have never
been to Cinci, and I know that he has a huge following there, but
the great woods show are wild. Last summer, Great Woods and Cinci
were the only stops on his tour where he did 3 show, so I'd suspect
the following is similar.

| Yes, I've been the past 2 years to Great Woods and have enjoyed the
concerts, but have been disappointed with the crowds. Both years
I've been in the pavillion and found the audience tame. In Cinti.
you don't sit during a show and here we sat more than stand, and
got yelled at for standing. Don't get me wrong, Buffett is great no
matter where you are and I wouldn't miss it for anything. I guess I
just need to hook up with some true parrotheads! I'm hoping a couple
of my Cinti. friends will come up for the show, it depends what kind
of seats I end up with to tempt them. Good seats in Cinti. are good
as gold and as hard to find!!

We should try to get a bunch of DEC parrotheads together for a little
tailgate party prior to one of the shows at Great Woods this year. you
are right about the pavillion though, it does tend to be a *bit* less
rowdy than the lawn (I've been in both). This year I am going for the
lawn...you *can't* sit down out there !

Anybody else see JB on the Tonight Show last night? He did "Satisfaction

tioned he and his wife being back together and living in Nashville and the
upcoming tour (which he said they were doing "one more time" which sounded
rather ominous to me)..

Yup, I saw it...for some reason, I thought the song was something like
"Money Back Guarantee". In any case, it is a new song, which I'm sure will
be on his new box set.
I would not read anything into the "one more time" comment, his says that
virtually every time he tours. Last year in he came right out and said in the
Coconut Telegraph that he would *not* tour in 1992, but true to form he's
back. I would not be surprised if he took a summer off sometime soon, but I
have a feeling we will be seeing JB for a long time to come.
I was psyched when he said that he has included a booklet in the box set that
includes a paragraph for each song telling what he was doing/thinking when
he wrote each song. I'll bet that will be classic.

I opted for lawn seats on Friday. If/when tickets go on sale for satuday, I'll
jump on them and then try to sell off fridays...or maybe go to both !
re: the box set, I picked it up late last week. It pretty much has all the
cuts that you would expect...3 or 4 from each of his albums, plus the
new ones. I haven't listed to the new cuts enough to really form an
opinion, but at least a couple of them really sound great ("Take it Back",
and "Everlasting Moon", for example). The 'insert' that is included
(I think 'book' would be a much more approprate term) is almost worth
the price of the set (I said *almost* !). It has a little blurb about
each song, various artilces by Buffett and others, as well as a bunch
of pictures...it even has a crossword puzzle of Buffett trivia !
I'd defintely recomend it....

All you Parrotheads do know that there's a Usenet newsgroup devoted

server near you. It was pretty active a few weeks ago with lots of
discussion of B^4, upcoming shows, and reviews of shows. It's slowed down

This is not the time or place to tell you how to get news, but if you're

the best I've seen. The show was an even bigger circus than I
expected. There were more vans with inflatable sharks on top, more
people in costume, more banners, more alcohol, more everything than
I've ever seen. You could just feel Charlotte bubbling with excitement
as the concert hour approached.
Jimmy did several covers that I'd never heard him do live. He did
Brown-eyed Girl, Another Sat. Night, and Carolina in my mind. He did
a short acoustic set early on and ended with two encores. A most
memorable show. Wish I could make another one this summer...I don't

| In reply to why Buffett is so popular in Cinti. it is unexplainable.
Each year he becomes increasingly popular there and people who don't
even know him go and have a great time. I think its the atmosphere of
going and getting dressed up and drunk and not caring what anyone else
thinks because they look just as ridiculous. Its kind of like a
phenomenom (sp?) now, even the department shows are sellin Buffet
shirts hats parrotts etc. and making money off of it. Its a great
thing one of those things every Buffett fan should experience, its
worth the trip!!!

| All right Parrotheads here's a special concoction invented just for us!
I call it....
"CAPT. SCOTT'S PIRATE PUNCH FOR PARTYING PARROTHEADS"
-----------------------------------------------------
Ingredients:
- Puerto Rican or Jamaican Rum (gold/dark)
- Malibu Rum
- 5-Alive Tropical Juice (not the citrus)
- Diet Sprite
I mix it differently everytime but it usually goes something like
this:
- 1 litre of Dark Rum (or more)
- 1 Pint of Malibu (for the coconut flavor...accept no substitute)
- 2 Quarts or 5-Alive (maybe 3...depends)
- 1 Litre Diet Sprite (This is mostly to keep it from being TOO sweet)
Enjoy!

| WOW, what a great show last night!!! I don't want to give too many things
away about the show but I will hit some highlights. He began by coming
out on stage with Evangiline, the opening act, and played two songs with
them. Then the CRB came out and did an instrumental version of
Off to see the Lizard. Then Jimmy took the stage and did Volcano
and the crowd went nuts. I thought it odd that he open with Volcano,
but it was great! The second song was a suprise to me. Though it is
one of my favorite old songs, I've never heard him play it. It was
SAXAPHONES!...I think he ended up doing at least one song from all the
albums...even a few songs that only the most knowledgeable parrothead
would know. I always like it when I'm the only one in the row to know the
words.
One of the funniest parts of the show was when he was singing Gypsies
in the Palace and forgot the words....he ended up skipping a verse.
I won't spoil any more since I know alot of you are going tonight and
tomorrow. He did two encores also...with the second being Big Round Ball.
He sure was having a good time on stage and I think thats what really makes
being a Parrothead so much fun....besides Cap't Scott's punch!
I'll be in the 7th row tonight and can't wait. For anyone going, if you
see a white Jeep with a shark on top, stop over for a drink or three!

Great shows...All the old tunes was definitly the high point for me. All the
times that I have seen him, it never ceases to amaze me as to how much he
genuinely appears to be having a great time up there.
Did anyone else notice on saturday night that he said "I'll see you all in '93" ?
That sounds to me that he'll be back next year, althought in previous
interviews he seemed pretty adamant about taking next summer off. Hmmm, maybe
he just can't give it up ?

Did anyone get to see Jimmy on The TODAY show this morning?
He did a great interview with Bryant GumBall about his new
book that just made it to the Best Seller List this week.
He said he was tired from doing the last show of his tour
on the west Coast and taking a red-eye to NY, but he looked
and sounded good.
They didn't talk about anything too crazy, but when asked if the
book was autobiographical, he said it was up to us to determine
where the fiction ended and the facts began! He also said that
Frank Bama the main character in the book used to be an
alias he used when he checked into hotels.
He also said that he has been threatening to retire, but
he just can't stop and is gonna do another album!

Just a quick note to mention some of the things that I have been reading
in the JB newsgroup on the Internet. As mentioned in .-2, he gave a
book reading/acoustic concert/Q&A in Cinci last week. Apparently it was
a great show...all the tunes were *real* oldies. He also mentioned that
he is working on a new album and it should be ready for his tour *next*
summer...so once again he goes back on his claim to be taking a year off !
He also did a benifit concert for the victims of Hurricane Andrew in
Joe Roby (sp?) stadium last weekend...
Oh yea...JB is scheduled to be on the Whoopi Goldberg show this friday
night ! An entire half hour of just Buffett !

Do did anyone else catch Jimmy on Whoopi this weekend ?? Great show...real
laid back and informal. He did not attempt to plug anything, as a matter
of fact, he did not even *mention* his book. Whoopi mentioned B*4, but
only in passing. He spend most of the time talking about his grandfather
and his extended family (Buffetts around the world)...oh yea, and he
performed "That's What Living is to Me".
So who's heading down to Boston for the signing tomorrow ? I hope to get
down by 9:30 or 10:00 to make sure I get a good spot in line.

| Wow, well from one new Buffett noter certainly, thanks for the response
and discography. I think a good start for me would be the box set,
although whether or not I can find it in this god-forsaken country is
another matter! Guess I'll have to go into London and visit one of the
record megastores.
With all that output, it amazes me that my local record store didn't
stock ONE album in ANY format! Serious words will have to be had with
the manager methinks!

Ok...recently Joe ([email protected] (Captain Tony)) posted a survey
for our favorite JB tune. I think most of us had the same immediate
response, that being "what, just *one* !...that's too hard".
So, if Joe doesn't mind, I would like to expand the survey to include
the following 3 questions. Please reply via email and I will tabulate
the results and post them in a couple of weeks.
The questions are:
1) what are your THREE favorite Buffett songs (in order). I will weight
each choice as follows: 3 points for #1, 2 points for #2, and 1 point for #3
2) what is your favorite Buffett album ? I would *like* to restrict this
to studio albums, but if you feel strongly that one of the compilations
or live albums are best, go for it.
And the REAL hard one....
3) What is your *least* favorite JB tune ? I know this is tough, but if
you were told you had to live without just one buffett song for the
rest of your life, what would it be ?
Have fun,
Tim

| Boy, this topic has been dead for a while ! Must be the long
cold winter...
anyway, word has it that JB will be releasing a compilation album of
artist that perform at his club in Key West (Margaritaville Cafe) which
will contain 3 or 4 new songs of his own. This is due to be released
on May 11th.
Also due out on May 11th are his first 2 albums (before he 'made it big')
that have been out of print for years ("Down to Earth" and "Cumberland
County Jubilee"...or something like that)....as well as the debue album
by the Iguanas (on Margaritiaville Records) who are Jimmy's latest
'discovery'.
A complete new Buffett album should be out sometime in the fall.

Just an update regarding the where-abouts of JB this past
weekend...a friend of mine was in New Orleans at the Jazz Fest
and went to see Evangaline play. They had JB come out and play
3 songs with them. Then a few hours later, my friends were
watching the Iguana's and they did the same thing...4 songs
this time!! I guess jimmy was there with Savannah Jane and his
new born child, even talked to the crowd and signed autographs
etc...the Coral Reefers are playing at the New Margaritaville
Cafe in New Orleans, Mon-Wed of this week, and rumor has it that
JB will make a special appearance there as well.

There's a beach ware shop on Cape Code in downtown Hyannis that sells
lots of Buffet T-shirts, shark hats, stickers, key chains, etc. The
shirts have pictures depicting some of his more famous songs, such as
"Cheesburger in Paradise, "Changes in Lattitudes, "Changes in Attitudes" ,
"Margaritaville", "Why don't we get drunk and Screw ?", etc. Most of the
shirts also contain a verse or 2 of the song on them too. They were priced
according to size from $16 to $18 a piece. I think the sign in the shop
said that a portion of the profits go to Buffets charity "The Jimmy Fund"
They also were raffling off a free set of tickets to one of this
week's concerts at Great Woods.

As much as I love Jimmy and am a huge Parrothead, I can't
help but think that I spent the last four days listening
to "Songs you know by Heart" Having been at all FOUR shows,
By far the best show was the Saturday show...The highlight
of the weekend was "Gods Own Drunk", I don't just mean
my escapades in the parking lot!! In Ten years of being a
die hard Buffett fan, I have never ever seen him do this and it
has got to be one of my favorites.
Jimmy put on a great show, the Iguana's were awesome in the
parking lot, especially sunday, when Jimmy came out and
played with them! I was hoping that the song selection
would have been a little better. The only time he
really changed the show from night to night was when the
band took a break and he and Fingers were on the stage alone.
This is when he did the songs I hoped to hear...African Friend,
Little Miss Magic, Coconut Telegraph....but at least he played
Livingston Saturday Night which I had never seen him do live.
As always, the JB weekend was a complete success....even
the new tunes were really good. Can't wait for the new
Album, its been too long since he's put out new songs.
Any other thoughts on the show...
Still wasted away from Capt Scott's Pirate Punch for
Partying Parrotheads....

Just noticed reference to a NEWSWEEK article (11Oct93, p42) where the
Editor-in-Chief of NEWSWEEK, Richard M. Smith, asks Bill Gates of

will appear in the electronic superhighway.
Have we discovered another Buffett fan here? ...or is this a common

'Best Of'.... the yellow CD. Does anybody have this, and if yes
how does it sound? Reason I ask is that it is not MASTERED, and I've
got burnt on a couple of CD's as far as sound quality of oldies
re-maked to CD which are not 'Digitally Mastered'. They really
sound terrible. For instance the 'new' Tom Petty 'greatest'... is
not mastered... and it sounds lousy.. probably won' paly it again.

I have the disc in question ("Songs You Know By Heart").
I don't know even know the SPARS code for the disc, and I really don't
care. The sound quality is very good. There is *some* hiss on the
older tracks, but it is nothing really disturbing. I played the disc
over and over and enjoyed it immensely!
I don't play it as much nowadays, because I purchased the boxed set and
have been playing *that* instead!!! ;)
"Songs You Know By Heart" was MY first ever Buffett CD, and it turned
Betty and me into born-again Parrotheads. I recommend it highly.

| Jimmy's concert dates hot off the press. A couple friends of mine just
returned from Key West with a copy of the 1994 tour schedule in hand.
Just the medicine to clear the winter blahs...parrotmania. JB arrives
at Great Woods Thursday July 28th through Saturday July 30th. Not sure
he'll have a 4th because he plays a benefit on August 1st in Montauk,
N.Y. I know I'll be there Friday and Saturday (Motel 6 employees
should start shuddering about now). This is totally legit because they
picked up the schedule at Margarittaville as it was just faxed to them
by his management company - HK Management on March 1st. Start paying
attention to the papers cause I hear James Taylor has already announced
his dates at GW with a set ticket sales date. If anyone is interested
I could post his entire tour schedule but right now I have to talk to a
pirate looking at forty (actually my boss staring at 50).

getting out of hand. After waiting in line since 4AM we get an
announcement by the dealer that you can only buy 4 resevered seats per
person, this after my wife called ticketmaster Saturaday morning and
they told her that the limit would be 8. We needed a total of 15. Then
after this 6 hour wait in line we get section 4 row N and section 5 row

to get the remaining 7 tickets that are needed. My biggest problem is
ticketmaster changing the rules 5 minutes before tickets go on
sale!!!!! On Saturaday the total was 8 per person then changes to 4
reserved seating/4 lawn or a total of 8 lawn.

Well, for me the biggest surprise was the third-world remake of the old

I got the CD last week. Don't know if we'll find a "Margaritaville" on

As I heard it, the seaplane he was flying lost power on takeoff and

of the plane and was pulled out by a couple of fishermen - as far as
I heard, the only thing hurt was his pride, thank goodness.

| Re. last two
Finally was able to sit down and listen closely to "Barometer Soup"
last night. I like it a LOT!
It seems a more cohesive album than his last one ("Fruitcakes"); I ran
through the first five or six tracks thinking "Wow, these are ALL great
songs..." - something that seldom happens 'cause there are usually
rough spots in the album that have to grow on me.
Favorite tracks so far are the title track, "Bank Of Bad Habits" (the
obligatory party song) "Blue Heaven Rendezvous" (a tribute to a Key
West bar that's lost in the 1970s), "The Ballad Of Skip Wiley" and
his cover of James Taylor's "Mexico" - the rest of the album is ex-
cellent, but these tracks really shine!
The liner notes includes lyrics, a brief note about each song's origin
(as in the boxed set - hooray!) and a nice dedication to a few of
Jimmy's Key West friends.
VERY highly recommended album - get it!

107.247 | Jamaica Farewell | JARETH::WIGGINS | | Fri Jan 19 1996 10:51 | 24 |
| Jamaican police almost killed Jimmy. I've heard various
accounts---here's one someone sent me from the internet:
". . . escaped death yesterday when police gunmen opened fire on
their plane---just seconds after they left the aircraft. The musicians,
their families and country star JIMMY BUFFET landed on a small
paradise island in Jamaica when cops started shooting, wrongly
suspecting they were smuggling drugs. Bono, his wife ALI
HEWSON and their frightened children JORDAN, six, and
three-year-old EVE, dived for cover as the bullets
whizzed overhead. The group were arriving for a holiday with their
ISLAND RECORDS boss CHRIS BLACKWELL on his Caribbean
estate. A spokesman for U2 admits they had been very frightened.
He says, "The authorities are taking the matter very seriously and
have apologized." And Jamaican police commissioner TREVOR
McMILLAN adds he has already spoken to the group. "I spoke to a
number of people from the party, including the U2 stars," he says.
"The singer was upset, obviously, but they understood the situation.
"We regret the whole situation. We are very fortunate nobody
was injured and everyone is safe and well."
They were VERY fortunate nobody was injured.

missed chances to see Buffett at Great Woods, I am ready to pull out
all the stops to get some good tickets. I need some advice from those
who have "plowed the seas" before me....
1. Where in central/southern Mass. is a good place to buy tickets?
2. Will it be necessary to "camp out" at said ticket office to ensure
getting tickets? (I only need to get two!)
3. Does anyone know when this summer's tour tix go on sale yet??
Please respond - I had several people in the past two years who have

I'd better do it myself if I want any chance of success!

advice about the actual concert procedure (beverage policy, pre- or
post-concert picnic, good arrival times, etc. etc. )

| Get to a Ticketshafter before the tickets go on sale and wait in line. They
will sell tickets to people on the phones and at each outlet until the tickets
are gone. I got to the front of the line 2 minutes after they started selling
tickets for Lou Reed at the Orpheum and got center seats in the next to last
row. The first person in line got tickets in fifth row center. Clapton can
sell out a place like the Centrum in less than 10 minutes.

| re: Great Woods tickets
You might be in luck. From what I heard, Great Woods is owned by
the same person starting the new ticket agency, NEXT (see attached).
If so, then GW tickets will be sold thru NEXT, which claims it will
be fair and not give in to scalpers like Ticketbastar, er, Ticketmaster ;-)
Waiting in line guarantees nothing. I was 2nd in line for Plant/Page
at a Ticketmaster and got seats waaaay in the back... it isn't right.
Hopefully this type of thing won't happen in the future, but I'm
probably overly optimistic.
/Ken

I thought I'd post this in a separate note so that it wouldn't get
purged when the GIG note gets cleaned out.
IMPORTANT NOTE: A few weeks ago, a new company, NEXT, was announced that
is going to be competing with Ticketmaster. Well, it's here and
some of the shows going on sale this weekend are going through
NEXT. (By the way, NEXT stands for New England Express Ticketing.)
To reach NEXT's automated system with a touch-tone phone ($4.75
service charge per ticket bought + $2 handling fee per order), call
617-423-NEXT. To use a real person ($5.75 service charge per ticket
+ $2 handling fee), call 617-423-6000.
Also, you can use the normal box offices (no service charge) or go
to a NEXT outlet ($4 service charge per ticket). The outlets are
at the Newbury Comics on Newbury Street as well as the Newbury Comics
in Harvard Square, Natick, Burlington, Braintree, Shrewsbury, Saugus,
Warwick RI and Nashua NH; the Orpheum Theatre and Great Woods box
office will also sell NEXT tickets (but maybe only to their own
venues' events?).
NEXT is at http://www.boston.com/next, but no tickets will be
available through the Internet at this time.
Other NEXT phone numbers:
Customer service (for issues involving tickets you've already
bought) is at 617-368-9400.
The pre-recorded information line is at 617-679-0800 (the
information at this line seems to be the same as at 423-NEXT,
but you can't order tickets through the information line).
