Yes we are, and that explains the purpose of the DNEAST::COMMUSIC
conference. There's topics about MIDI, synths, samplers, sequencing,
studios, effects, recording (both analog and digital), etc. There's
even multi-media issues covered in there, along with passionate
proponents of any kind of personal computing and sequencing you can
imagine. There are comments by beginners to those who have issued
their own CD's. It's there.
Yes, there is an awful lot of talent in this company, and the COMMUSIC
crowd just completed their NINTH compilation tape in five years.

Thaanks for your input. Should I perhaps cancel this
topic in your view? It appears that the subject is
adequately covered in the COMMUSIC conference.

| Well, I'll put my two cents in here in regard to the appropriateness or
inappropriateness of a sequencing note here:
It is indeed a music issue. There are lots of political and "taste"
issues involved here and although they've been covered in MUSIC already
in some depth, they continue to make for lively discussion.
COMMUSIC tends toward the technical aspect of music production. It's
essentially an "equipment head's" conference. Some of that stuff is
appropriate here too, but it's better discussed "over there".
Anyway, feel free to talk MIDI, sequencing or the like here any time...

"After its near-fatal encounter with DJ's, those slimebags, REAL LIVE
MUSIC has finally died, killed by soulless MIDI technodweebs that let a
BOX do their playing for them."

80.6 | What is real 'LIVE' music? | BSS::STPALY::MOLLER | Fix it before it breaks | Mon Dec 09 1991 16:51 | 9 |
| The only real live music is done by musicians who use no crutches, like
wooden, steel or plastic contrivances (such as a violin, piano or a guitar).
I guess that this leaves people who make strange percussion noises with thier
mouths (I've heard this done successfully with rap music on TV on the show
America's Funniest People), and people who play thier armpits or whistle
while someone sings along. Anything else, simply isn't really 'live' music.
