       Salem NIO mail works differently....

       This is how Condition Mail is set for LMS in Salem NIO.

                SMTP%"[email protected]"

       This is how User Mail is sent.....

                SMTP%"""[email protected]"""

       must work differently for each site???

    There are many ways to send mail. .0 is fairly misleading.

    In .1 it looks like SMTP (simple mail transport protocol I believe) is
    running (via UCX). This allows the use of the SMTP% prefix in vaxmail.

    If VMS 6.2 is running with UCX 4.0 or better (I believe) you can send
    mail to a standard internet address with no special formatting (bug
    your system manager to set this up).

    Assuming we have changed to the standard MS Exchange roll out, the
    format for exchange addresses is;

    [email protected] where username is your exchange username.

    If none of the above special tools have been added (or even if they
    have been) we can use the old standby USxRMC mailers. There are a bunch
    of them. I have heard DECWRL has recently been retired and should not be used.

    When sending mail interactively use;

    USxRMC::"[email protected]" where x represents the number of
    your preferred mail server (i.e. US4RMC::)

    DCL does weird things with quotes and will require the use of triple
    quotes when using command streams.

    Same goes when forwarding VaxMail to an internet (i.e Exchange)
    address.

    i.e. set forward "US4RMC::""[email protected]"""

    And if all else fails log a call with our friendly CCS folks who are
    always a good point of reference.

    Brad.
