" Ce succ�s va me donner des ailes pour le Tour d'Italie." Pavel Tonkov, 28 ans, vainqueur du
Giro'96, �tait tout heureux de son triomphe romand, dimanche � Gen�ve. Le Russe a �clips� les deux
autres hommes forts du Tour de Romandie, Mario Cippolini et Chris Boardman. L'Italien a r�gl� le
sprint du peloton pour la 3e fois, le matin, et l'Anglais a domin� le contre-la-montre final comme
le prologue initial. Mais Boardman n'a pu effacer la minute 4O conc�d�e samedi dans les monts du
Valais.
"This has given me wings for the Tour of Italy". Pavel Tonkov, 28 years old, winner of the Giro
'96, was very proud of his Romande victory. The Russian eclipsed the 2 other strong men of the
event, Mario Cippolini and Chris Boardman. the Italian won the bunch sprint for the 3rd time in
the morning and the Englishman won the final clm as he had the first. But Boradman could not get
back the 1'40" he lost on Saturday in the mountains of the Valais.
