1302.0. "Seeking nanny agency" by IRONIC::BROOKS () Mon Feb 03 1992 14:07

I have a friend whose wife just died of cancer. She had just given
birth to a baby (who is now two months old) and they have two other
    children (7 and 3 1/2).

My friend is desparately trying to find a nanny so that he can start to
put his life together and get back to work, but he isn't having much
    luck.

I'm wondering if someone may have the name of a good agency, or some
ideas on what he can try.

Any input would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sandi Brooks

I have an AU Pair through EF AU PAIR who is working out reasonably
well, altho not perfectly. EF is a Cambridged based agency.

Sometimes au pairs don't work out in one family and need to be placed
mid year. Thus, he may be able to find someone who is here... the
disadvantage is that the au pair would not stay long and he'd have to
find another...in this case that might be an advantage as it would by
him some time to find a more long term solution.

I believe thay will prorate fees to take into consideration the shorter
    stay.

BTW, if your friend's name is Phil, let me know if he wants more
    detailed info.

Hi! I just learned that note #12 of this file has daycare
recommendations. You might check it out....note 12.89 in particular.

I also had a friend lose his wife to cancer recently. He advertised in
the bulletins of all the local churches. He also networked with local
friends for recommendations. This was really how he achieved his
objective. The local police chief was a neighbor and happened to
mention the need to someone applying for a crossing guard position.

There is also a place called "The Nanny Solution" that is based in
    Bedford, NH.

They advertise having live-in and live-out nannies, part-time,
full-time and vacation nannies. I have no idea how much they are
though. You may want to give them a call 1-800-660-6269.

    Good Luck
