| I was told that you resume your period anywhere from 3 to 6 wks after
nursing or not. I didn't nurse but my sister in law did, she got hers
after 7 wks.

| It took me forever to get my period started again, but then, I wasn't in
a hurry, so it didn't bother me. Evan stopped breastfeeding at 6 months.
I think it may have taken months, but I'm not sure. I remember one day
figuring how many periods I had missed, and then comparing it to all of
the bleeding I did after the birth, and figuring that it came out about
the same. :-}

Thanks for reminding me about a related problem I must call my doctor
for. I also had not received my period 6 weeks after total weaning.
I had fears that I was somehow pregnant again even though we had
used protection against this. However, I did get my period the
following week. I started the birth control pill again and was getting
nauseous - I had taken this same pill for the previous 5years with
no side effects at all. I changed to taking the pill at night and
was fine. However, I got my period again 2 WEEKS LATER and it has
thus far lasted 8 DAYS (normal period is 3-4 days. I'm totally
confused as to whether I continue the pills on teh same schedule
for Period 1, start over again with this period, or stop the pill
and start all over again with the next one - who knows when it will
come. I have always been very regular on a 28 day cycle and it is
very disturbing to have a 14 day cycle!!

| The first time I got mine back at 6 months, just after I quit pumping at
work. I continued to nurse until she was 15 months.
This time I got it back after 9 months (almost 10 months) - just a few weeks
ago. I quit pumping at 5.5 months and was expecting to have a period pretty
soon, but for some reason it still didn't happen. I'm still nursing and
Kimmi Jo is 10 months old today.

| RE: .4
I got my first period 8 weeks after my son was born, started the Pill
the following Sunday as ordered, got my period AGAIN a little more than
midway through the first cycle, and continued bleeding through the week
between pills (it got heavy again when I was supposed to have my
period). I called the doctor's office and was told that it is normal to
have erratic bleeding for the first few cycles and that I should
definitely continue taking the Pill as if nothing unusual was
happening. I don't know what the irregular bleeding means as far as
birth control goes, though, so I'm not taking any chances there.
I'm giving it another month to see what happens. Good luck.

Am I the only one who got my period six weeks after giving birth?
I was breastfeeding for five months. I thought I won't get my
period until I weaned the baby. I even called the doctor when I
got my period just in case it was something else and they said
that some people just get their period right away. I wonder
if that means I could have had babies 10 months apart :-)!
