1110.2 | I've done this, not sure if I remember right | TANNAY::BETTELS | Cheryl, Eur. Ext. Res. Prg., DTN 821-4022 | Tue Aug 27 1991 12:32 | 6 |
| I made Chritmas decorations with my children once out of salt dough. It was
long ago but I think the recipe was about half flour, half salt with enough
water to get the right consistancy. It colors well with food dyes. I just let
it dry by itself although the thick ones took quite a long time (days).

1110.3 | How to Make Permanent Handprints | GEMVAX::WARREN | | Fri Dec 06 1991 11:20 | 10 |
| I'm looking for directions for making a permanent impression of a
child's handprint. I thought I saw it in here before and that it
involved making the imprint, then baking it. But I don't know the
recipe for the mixture. I would like to do this at my daughter's
birthday party tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute,
huh?
Thanks,

| Tracy, you're a person right after my heart, and I thought I was the
only one who put ideas off til the last minute!!
I remember the note too, but can't find it either. Here's two optional
thoughts:
First, get the recipie for the preschool's "playdough", it's on the
wall next to the fridge. If you do your "thing" and then let it harden
or try baking it, see what happens, you may have achieved your goal.
Second, just because I liked it, grab the recipie for the cinnomin Xmas
ornaments, it would seem to work in much the same way, plus it smells
so nice!
Enjoy the party, and make sure you have lots of asprin on hand!!

Yep, that ought to do it. My wife made up a batch of playdough for
my daughter, and that stuff stiffens up pretty good just at room
temperature (don't step on a piece barefooted! :-) ) - I imagine
it might work better (or at least quicker) in the oven.
