1009.1 | Highlights | CTHQ3::SANDSTROM | born of the stars | Tue Jul 02 1991 10:31 | 12 |
| Is the HIGHLIGHTS magazine still around? When I was a kid
we used to spend *hours* witih Grandma doing things from the
magazine.
One of the neat things I remember was a full page picture where
you had to find all the things that don't belong (a giraffe riding
an elephant, a person with two smiles, etc.) I was about five and
my sister (who also played with us) was about three so the age level
should be about right. There were different projects based on age
throughout the magazine.

| Yes, "Highlights for Children" is still published. It looks much the same
as it did when I was a kid.

| Check out Sesame Street Magazine. It has arts and crafts, simple games, and
sometimes easy recipes for kids (with Mom or Dad's help).

1009.4 | Teaching Supply Store? | VLNVAX::CSULLIVAN | Just another tricky day... | Tue Jul 02 1991 13:04 | 9 |

I went to the "teaching/educational" store down at the Framingham
Shopping Mall and found some terrific activity books for my
daugther (3 yrs). They are for pre-school, and work up to
different levels. It's fun and she loves the feeling that she's
"writing" when she has to trace the shapes, etc.

1009.5 | Two more suggestions | ALLVAX::CREAN | | Fri Jul 05 1991 12:57 | 11 |
| Here's two that I have:
"1001 Things To Do With Your Kids" by Caryl Waller Krueger
"Child's Play" by Leslie Hamilton
I especially like the second one because the projects are rated for
each age group & use things you have around the house. Also it lists
some of the "basic" supplies.

| Discovery Toys has a great book called something like "Prime Time Together
With Kids". It has some wonderful ideas for all ages - lots of crafts,
travel ideas, neighborhood projects.
