989.1 | My Nephews Met Mr. Rogers | SYSTMX::POND | | Wed Jun 26 1991 10:17 | 18 |
| My in-laws (in Pittsburgh) know Mr. Rogers. They belong to the same
church. My father-in-law brought two of his grandsons (not my kids) to
Mr. Rogers' office to meet him. Fred Rogers invited the kids into his
office and made my F-I-L wait outside. That wasn't easy to take for
my F-I-L who's used to being top dog. But Fred is definately a
"kid-oriented" person. He is, in real life, just like he is on the
show. The grandsons who went for the visit are now in their late teens
and still remember it as a momentous occasion.
Just as an aside...Mr. Rogers doesn't tape as frequently as he used to.
He's having trouble with arthritis (or so says my mother-in-law) and is
scaling down a bit.
Regards,
Lois

989.2 | He taught me to tie my shoes!!!! | IRONIC::BRINDISI | | Wed Jun 26 1991 10:20 | 12 |
| I didn't think Mr. Rogers was still doing shows. I thought everything
on tv was re-runs. About a month ago they were showing real old shows.
He was about 30 years old (maybe 40).
My daughter (3) loves Mr. Rogers too, but unfortunately she has
discovered cartoons!!!! I always found Mr. Rogers to be so peaceful and
soothing for children. Especially after Sesame Street!
BTW, I would be interested in that weekend when you get the info.
Thanks!

989.3 | Mr. Rogers Calls the CSC | CSC32::DUBOIS | Sister of Sappho | Wed Jun 26 1991 18:35 | 6 |
| Mr. Rogers has his own MicroVAX. He called in here to get VMS support,
and then sent a signed, color 8x10 picture of himself as a thank you to
the specialist who helped him. We had it posted on the wall with the other
customer thank you's.

989.5 | More WQED Information | NODEX::HOLMES | | Fri Jun 28 1991 16:50 | 12 |
| I talked to WQED again about the Open House weekend. There is a
limited number of openings for it and their Kid's Club kids get the offer
first. After that, if there are still openings, they open it up to the
public. To enroll your child in the Kid's Club, you have to become a
member of the station ($35 minimum pledge). The phone number is
(412) 622-1300.
Tracy
P.S. They promised to send Brian a special picture of Mr. Rogers in his
Kid's Club package. Oh boy!

| I am a contract administrator in the Pittsburgh office and Mr Rodger's
company does in fact have a MicroVax. My sale support person has met
with him on numerous occasions and has told me that he exactly the same
off set as on. My daughter used to love him but she seems to be
outgrowing him.
