944.1 | dont think it's a problem | CSCMA::L_ARCABASCIO | | Tue Jun 04 1991 09:56 | 4 |
| I was very remotely exposed when I was pregnant and called my doctor
imediately. He said if I had them as a child it was no problem.
I think it becomes a problem if you never had them because you are
then at risk to get them.

944.2 | Discussed before, as tangents | POWDML::SATOW | | Tue Jun 04 1991 10:07 | 9 |
| See notes 483.5 and following, and notes 584.26 and following.
This has been discussed before, but unfortunately, the discussions were
tangents on other notes, and there's no reasonable way you could have found
it, unless you happened to remember the name of one of the noters who was
involved in the discussion. The opinions, even within the medical community
seem to vary.

| My neice had chicken pox when I was in my 2nd trimester.
I called my OB and asked if there was any risk to my baby
if I was exposed...(I had chicken pox as a child). She
said that the baby would not be in danger, I'm assuming
this is because I had already had them.

944.4 | OB said not to worry | ERLANG::MAHONEY | | Tue Jun 04 1991 11:17 | 8 |
| Thanks for the replies.
I just talked to by OB's office and they said there is absolutely
nothing to worry about as long as I had them as a child, which I did
severely - I still have scars. They said the immunity is passed onto
the fetus in-utero. But they did say to still not have any physical
contact with them until they are over them completely. My sister has 4
children so I guess I won't be seeing them for a while up close.
