| 872.1 | Sick Bay? | MR4DEC::SHALLAN |  | Tue Apr 30 1991 14:30 | 10 |
| | You might try your local hospital. Alot of them have the 'Sick Bay'
    program where for aprox. $3.00 per hour, they set your sick child up
    in a room in the pediatric ward and the nurses watch them, take there
    temps, give them their meds (you have to provide tylenol, etc). They
    have a phone that they can't dial out from but you can call them.
    TV with remote. Game room for when they feel up to playing. My two
    love to go there when they are sick.

    Good luck. I hope your son starts to feel better real soon 8^)

| | re: the last reply, you work in Marlboro? So where is this center in
    *our* area. I'd have given my right arm, and even my SON to have known
    about this last February when he had the chicken Pox.

    So sorry I can't help right now, maybe this time next month when this
    DECtag has to take 31 days off, per company policy :-) !!

| | I live in the Ayer/Littleton area but I work in Marlboro. The
    Nashoba Community Hospital in Ayer has the 'Sick Bay' program.
    You have to pre-register by phone first. Then, after you are
    registered, you just call up the hospital an hour before
    you want to bring your child in and ask to talk to
    one of the pediatric nurses and depending on space available
    they will set up a room for you.

    I'm sure Nashoba isn't the only hospital that offers this
    program. You might want to check with the Pediatric Ward
    at Marlboro Hospital or other hospitals in your area and
    find out if they offer this program. Or check with your
    Pedi.

    This program has been a total life saver for me. It's great
    for when they have colds, etc. and are too sick to go to
    school, and I just can't take the day off that day.

| 872.4 | don't take pox kids | AKOFIN::COREY |  | Tue Apr 30 1991 15:32 | 7 |

    Leominster (or Burbank Hospital...not sure which) has this program.
    I have received literature about it in the mail....Only one catch;
    they don't take children with communicable diseases, i.e. chicken
    pox and such. So I'm not sure if they are all like that or not.

    Good Luck!!

|  |     Update

    Thanks for your quick replies,

    I am so glad that I am in this group, seems that I can work half days
    until he feels better, I am a DEC Temp and I hate to take the time
    off and I have only been back to work for about 1 month and then
    this happens. My husband can stay with him in the morning until
    noon and I will take over, it is good since my husband works in
    Bedford and Westford is not that far and my son would probably
    enjoy the ride I hope.

    The hospitals in this area and most of them will not take sick children
    with Chicken Pox, Mumps, Measels etc.

    Thanks again.

    Cindy
