789.0. "Playing pool in Merrimack NH" by SMURF::HAECK (Debby Haeck) Fri Mar 22 1991 11:40

    I've already asked this in the NEW_HAMPSHIRE notes file, but readers
    here may be able to help me too. (I have no idea what it means to
    'cross post' something.)

    There is a pool place in Merrimack NH call, I believe, The Pool
    Connection. Recently my 16 year old daughter and her friends have
    decided this is a great place to go on a Fri. night. She says it is a
    very nice place, but I can't get past the image of a dark and dingy
    pool hall with shady characters. I should (and probably will) visit it
    myself, but a random visit may not answer all my questions. Mostly I
    want to know what kind of a reputation the place has. Does anyone here
    know anything about the place?

    Thanks
    Debby

789.2Several Billiard Rooms in areaSSGBPM::COLEMANFri Mar 22 1991 13:365
    There are several new billiard halls in the area--what are called
    Christian pool halls, meaning no alcohol, gambling, (smoking I believe,
    etc.). They are very nice & clean -- you should go visit this
    particular one before passing judgment, you may be surprised how far
    pool rooms have come!, and how fun playing pool can be!, try it.
789.3The Cue ConnectionBCSE::WEIERPatty, DTN 381-0877Fri Mar 22 1991 16:0416
    I believe the place you are referring to is call The Cue Connection.
    If so, I've been in there several times. Aside from being smokey, it's
    fine. It's *VERY* well lit, the tables are ****VERY**** well taken
    care of and the people that run the places don't put up with much. We
    opened a window once cuz it was so smokey and they came over and made
    us shut it and were quite perturbed. I was taking a shot once and had
    a cigarette in my mouth and they came over and told me that was a big
    no-no (might fall on the table and burn the felt). There's fooze-ball
    (sp?) tables as well as a large TV with overstuffed couches and a fish
    tank. It's an ok place - but I'm kind of surprised that a teenager
    would enjoy it. It is the kind of place you wouldn't mind bringing
    company if you have the urge to shoot a few games.

    Max-A-Millians in Nashua (DW Highway) is *MUCH* nicer though.
