| My son lost his first tooth one month before he turned 6. My daughter
just lost her first tooth last Friday and she is 6 and 4 months. I
know of other children that lost their first tooth at around the age of
5 1/2. My guess is that anywhere in between the age of 5 and 6 is
average.
BTW, my daughters second teeth came in first and pushed her baby tooth
out. She has two other teeth ready to go and the tooth fairy is
"on-call"!

| 5. Held true in my house. The front bottom two are the first to go.

| My daughter lost her tooth when she 6 1/2 years old. She lost about
4 teeth within 3 months. My 2nd daughter who is 5 1/2 year old keeps
saying "I don't want to be 6 years old - so that I won't lose any
tooth". She is very worried about it that she keeps brushing her teeth
very thoroughly until everyone at home say that she has a CLEAN CLEAN
teeth.
Of course we are working on her saying that she will lose her
baby teeth and will get permanent teeth as she grow up. I sure hope
she will be alright when she lose her first tooth.

| My reason for asking is my daughter just turned 4 at the end of Jan and
she went for her 2nd dental visit on Thursday (has to go back on the
12th for a small cavity) and on Sat her bottom left front tooth became
loose. I didn't think anything about it, until I told a couple of
differant people and they think that it's much too young. So I
thought I'd ask in here. I guess when she goes back to the dentist
I'll get his feelings on it.

My second son lost his first tooth at about 4 and as I recall the
dentist found no reason for concern. I remember that he had no idea
of what was happening and he told us he thought he'd broken his tooth!

| My twins lost their first tooth (same tooth even!) about 1 week apart
from each other. They were both 5 at the time.

| I don't remember when my son lost his first tooth, but he's almost
8 1/2 and doesn't have his 6 year old molars yet and has only lost
his bottom front 2 teeth. He was just at the dentist and I asked if
there was any reason to worry. The dentist had taken X-rays, and noticed
that everything was fine before I asked, so he just smiled and said,
"Yeah, he's dentally retarded." (and followed it up with an explanation
that everything was fine, everyone gets teeth at different times, and
that the teeth seem to be forming and will show up eventually)

| My daughter "lost" her baby teeth last year when she was 7. They had to
be pulled out though because the new ones were growing in behind the
baby ones and they weren't loose yet! Now she is 8 and the upper side
ones are loose.

| Another question regarding "losing teeth"
It's been two months since Lauren's tooth first became lose, it is
still there, although I think one good tug might be the answer, but it
is leaning slightly forward and now you can see the "big tooth"
already cut through the gum. Is this normal? I always remembered kids
having a blank space for a long time, before the "big" one finally grew
in. Do you think I should yank that baby tooth out (and listen to her
tortured screams) or just leave it alone until the "big" one gives it
the final push?

| First of all I'd let the old tooth fall out on it's own, if it takes
the new tooth to push it out so be it....
When Sam lost his first tooth, a bottom front tooth, the new tooth
seems to have come in very soon after the baby tooth fell out. Now the
top front [[two]] - second one fell out yesterday - are missing and
there is no sign of the new tooth. It might be, and this is a guess,
that the top teeth are missing longer than the bottom, but then I don't
know which tooth Lauren is missing!
