657.0. "Family Works" by MEIS::LEVIN () Fri Jan 25 1991 14:19

Sorry for the late notice......this is also posted in the Blended
Families notes conference.

There is a program on television tonight on channel 5, called
FAMILY WORKS. It is a three year project that will be on
at various times over the next 3 years. It is all about
family life, the different kinds of families, the problems
that exist and what to do about them.

The first show on TONIGHT at 8 p.m. has segments about
Stepfamilies, single parent families, and working parent families.
The studio audience was packed with stepfamilies
and single parents. I know because my husband, daughter,
stepdaughter and I were in the audience for the taping.
The taping was 3 hours and the show is only 1 hour, so
some of the stuff will be edited out of the final show.
The Boston and Worcester chapter of SAA were asked to fill
the audience and we did!

We learned a lot during the taping and had fun too. Chet
Curtis and Natalie Jacobson are the hosts of the program, along
with Ann Jillian.

Hope you can catch the show. If you do, please write here what
you think about it! We have a chance to influence future shows.

Thanks!
Diane

Diane, and other noters, please, when you refer to a tv program
on a given channel, let us know the network so that others can
cross reference to their local channels. An awful lot of the
people who note in here are from far afield ... I'm in Canada, but
get a lot of US tv from Rochester and PBS from Watertown NY. Ohters
are down in Colorado. Digital is a truly international and widespread
company, and this notesfile does reflect that.

    Thanks.

657.2clarification....MEIS::LEVINFri Jan 25 1991 15:3012
Let me be a little more clear.

It is on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard time.

We were told it would be shown across the country, with
different hosts (not Nat and Chet) and different local
studio audiences. The Ann Jillian part with all the
vignettes is pre-recorded and will be part of all the
broadcasts no matter where they are located.

sorry for the confusion,
Diane
657.3Not an ABC showQUARK::LIONELFree advice is worth every centSun Jan 27 1991 17:1510
According to the entry in TV Guide, this show was produced by
WCVB-TV, Boston's ABC affiliate, for their own use and perhaps
syndication to other stations. It does not appear to have been
distributed by the ABC network (the New Hampshire ABC affiliate
did not carry it), and therefore one would have to watch for
it in the listings of other stations, or ask WCVB which other
stations will be carrying it and then contact those stations
    and ask.
