I know my step-daughter started writing to her pen pal at about 11 years old through a school program. This summer she finally got to meet her face-to-face after 6 years of writing when we sent her to Scotland. They had a wonderful time and surely proved that teenagers around the world are all the same!!! Check with you school system. Thay are bound to have international contacts. Andrea

I'd love to find someone in Europe or another foreign country to be a pen pal for my 10 year old daughter too!!! She's been looking for someone. My husband has had a pen pal in Holland since he was in High School. He's met her and her family several times. They've been corresponding now for 26 years! jean

I can give you the address of a 10 year old girl in Bucharest, Romania who probably would enjoy a pen pal. She reads and write English, so if your Romanian isn't so hot, it'll still work. Let me know at WFOOFF::Mokray if you want the address.

Hmmm... looks like a trend here. How about this... how about making this a generic note about pen-pal contacts? If you have a child who would like to participate, or know one who would, put a note here with the following info: age, gender, language(s) available, country, your VAXMAIL address or, the address of a pen-pal agency, as requested in .0 Anyone who wants to start a relationship with one of the contacts listed would have to send mail to the writer to exchange addresses via private mail, and it could go from there. That would mean that the writer would (possibly) have to answer several mail messages regarding address and all, but it would keep home addresses out of a public conference to avoid possible abuse later. This moderator would prefer that people stick to giving names of organizations. Using this as an exchange for individuals is not really appropriate. Here's one to get you started... Send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Penpals Box 127 State House, MA 02133 And they'll send you info on how to join. Steve |
