My brother just sent me the following post. I haven't heard of this settlement, it sounds too good to be true. I'm thinking this is some form of urban legend that I just haven't seen before. Anyone familiar with this? TIA Brad McCusker > > Gerber Foods (make of baby foods) has allegedly agreed to a legal settlement >with the FDA for price fixing of its baby food products during the period >1985-1996. Terms of the settlements were all claimants would recieve >a $500 saving bond. To qualify for this payment one must have a child that >was born between 1985 and 1996 (and allegedly used Gerber products). Each >child born within this window is elegible. > > To obtain the settlement payment, parants are to submit a "hand-written" >letter requesting settlement (of a $500 Saving Bond in the child's name) >to the following address: > > Settlement Administrator > Infant Litigation > P.O. Box 1602 > Minneapolis, MN 55480 > > The letter must also be accompanied by a copy of the child's birth >certificate and social security number (card). The child's full legal name >and mailing address must also be identified. > > All requests for settlement must be postmarked no-later-than Tues 29 >April. > > I've got a sample request letter if interested.

I checked on the web and Gerber has posted a message (www.gerber.com/false.html) stating this is a false rumor. I wonder how many photocopied birth certificates and social security numbers these scam artists have collected so far? Dave | |||||

Thanks, I constantly tell people, 'Check the Web' or 'Check AltaVista'. And when I want information, I don't listen to myself. But I did do the next best thing: NOTES! Thansk very much. Brad |
