Have you every played Michigan Rummy??? It's a board/card game that a
number of people can play. We have an old plastic game board. Growing
up I remember saving all the pennies for vacation so we could play.
Just the first one that came to mind.

cribbage? My husband and I have fun with this game all the time.

| Not a borad game, but still fun if you have several adults is
Pictionary. Hangman is also a fun game.

How many adults??
"PIT" is a neat game - but it's best with 4 or more people. It can get
*VERY* loud.
Takaradi/Jenga is a favorite "stacking, don't knock it over" game -
especially if folks have been drinking and can't see straight (-:
Scruples is a *GREAT* game if you think you know people - really gets
to the heart of the matter. Again you need several people though. But
be careful - that game got us all (6 of us!) tossed out of my father in
law's house once ... (-: He didn't like that none of us believed his
answer.
Pictionary is my favorite though ....

| Not a board game. But, you could have lots of fund with Dumb-charades.
We play it when we have quite a few friends (10-12). We use it to
guess movie names.

| Strip poker? No never mind...
Here's one that we play with a bunch of friends, but it's one that kids
really shouldn't listen to.
It's called Sexual Dilemmas. No, it's not as bad as you think. It's
like Scruples, but on a more personal level. Has questions and if it's
your turn, someone reads you the question, you have to take your "yes"
"no" or "maybe" card and put it face down on the table. Everyone else
has to guess what YOU answered. Questions like, "Your gynecologist is
an ex boyfriend of yours. Your husband wants you to change doctors.
Do you change?" This question got my parents in a heated debate. Of
course the rest of us were laughing hysterically!
Of course this game is even more interesting if you've had a couple of
margaritas!
Enjoy,
Gail

Take pictionary cards and use them to play charades. We usually
try and do all 5 categories in 1 minute.

1141.11 | How about for two people | NAC::WALTER | | Thu May 16 1996 09:52 | 8 |
| I suppose I should of noted that it would be just for two people. Last
year on vacation we got rained in for a day and spent the afternoon
playing cards and monopoly. Oh yes, a game of scrabble that my husband
got killed in too. Anyways... it will be just the two of us.
Keep comin'!

| Yahtzee (sp?). It's kind of like playing poker with dice.
Parcheesi is a great deal of fun also (although with just
two people it may be a little dull).

| Hey cj...if things are going that well these days.... go
for the Bumps and Grinds :-)
Ok, ok... I'll clean up my act. What about Mindtrap. I'd be
glad to lend you mine. It's set up just like Trivial Pursuit,
with the cards and board and all, but has brain teaser questions
and logic problems, etc... Can be REAL tough! Let me know and
I'll get it to you.

| To make this more related to PARENTING (*ahem, says the moderator... ;-) )
our guests tend to enjoy:
TABOO (and the kids operate the buzzer for the time)
ENCORE (a singing game, which kids can fully participate in)
OUTBURST (kids can also fully participate)
Guests shy away from Celebrity Taboo, and there is usually a large number of
people who shy away from Encore, though the people who *enjoy* Encore tend
to love it.
These are games which work best with more than 2 people, the more the merrier.

1141.15 | try klutz books | NYFS05::CHERYL | Cheryl Hamm, (215)943-5380 | Wed May 22 1996 10:20 | 8 |
| I have a book (sorta) of board games. It is put out by the folks that
do the klutz toys. The "book" is spiral bound, hard pages and contains
all the rules, game boards and pieces for many games.
I think I paid about $11 for it. It has things like go, checkers,
backgamon and a bunch of games I never heard of.

1141.16 | Tangoes, Pass the Pigs | SUBPAC::SKALSKI | | Thu May 23 1996 10:18 | 25 |

Here's one most people havn't heard of, and its perfect for
2 people. TANGOES. Its a game where both players get a set
of geometric shapes. They range from squares, triangles,
parallelogram etc. Now pull a card from the deck with an
object show in black. Build the object you see on the card using
all of your various shapes. First one done wins. Sounds easy, but
with several shapes in front of you and a solid picture to go
from its not that easy. Very addictive game. Fits in your pocket.
Here's another classic, Pass the Pigs. Each player takes
turns rolling 2 little piggies as they would a pair of dice. Now
depending on how the pigs fall you earn points. First one to 21?
wins. This is alot of fun. For example, to pigs landing on
thier feet standing up is called trotters-10 pionts. Pigs landing
on thier sides opposite each other is a pig out, you lose all
pionts gathered for that roll and your turn. You can pass your
roll after gathering X amount of points. First time I showed
this game at work we were in the cafe rolling pigs, someone got
the pigs to land with thier faces leaning forward on thier snouts.
My friend and I both stand up and shout in unison...DOUBLE JOWLERS.
Needless to say we got some very strange looks.

1141.17 | Balderdsah.. | WOTVAX::LEUNGF | | Tue May 28 1996 13:11 | 10 |
| One of my favorite group games is called Balderdash. The great thing is
that every one is involved all the time. I like Pictionary but
unlike Balderdash, if a couple get into a winning streak then the rest
of the group become observers.
I have played Scruples and thought it would be a good game but after
playing it once, never again. I felt it could be open to manipulation.

1141.18 | Yes, Yes,... Balderdash! | MAL009::MAGUIRE | | Wed May 29 1996 05:38 | 9 |
| I second that Balderdash recommendation.....I was going to put this in
a while ago, but didn't know if it was considered a "board" game. This
game can be totally hysterical, once you get "with it" and depending
upon the humor of some of the participants. We have a family member
who is one of those "dry humor" types; he really, really made the game.
Good luck, and have fun...
