1067.0. "Places to go sledding/sliding around greater Nashua or Northern Mass area..." by DECC::CARLSON () Wed Dec 20 1995 13:54

Hmm, I would have thought there would already be a note for
this. If so, I couldn't find it...

Can anyone recommend any nice places to take the kids sliding,
particularly within reasonable distance of ZK? There's a fair
sized hill off East Dunstable Road, by Roby Park, across the
street from ZK. I was wondering about any others...

I've also been told there is a nice place off Rt. 495, just past
Lawrence. Here, you pay n dollars, they have a tow back _up_
the hill, and at least two hills of varying degrees of difficulty?
Anyone know how to get there, and how crowded it gets?

Try the NEW_HAMPSHIRE notesfile. Note 49 looks promising.

yup. 12DOT2::MASSACHUSETTS note 1380 has a little bit
too, but not really Northern Mass... I'll bet PARENTING
gets more visibility than either NEW_HAMPSHIRE or
MASSACHUSETTS...

Still looking for Mass ideas, particularly that place
off of 495 ...

I hope this helps a little bit - the place off of 495 is in Amesbury,MA.
I don't know which exit to take but it is clearly visible from 495. It's
located at a driving range. It looks to me like it's for older kids - the
slope is quite steep. But that's just my opinion.

Lots of people use the Nashua Country Club, right off of Main Street,
just past Rivier College. There are several hills, but they are not
that steep. They are great for younger kids (my 5 year old is more
than happy). I see older kids there, but I don't think the hills
    would be too thrilling.

We tried the place in Amesbury off 495 a couple years ago, was wicked
packed so we did'nt go in. RE: Nashua Country Club, do not settle for
the little well used hills you see off S.Main Street. Go to Hole 2 &
you will have a good time. Be cautioned that it is a little bit of a
walk once you park but well worth it.

Route 101 on the Amherst/Bedford town line has a great sledding hill!
The site is an old farm.

I thought the hill on 101, at the Amherst/Bedford line, was closed this
    year...

I had heard rumors last year that the farmer was selling his field, but it
must not have happened. Everytime we drive past, the hill has been full of
sledders this year. We live very near the hill so go past with fair frequency.
