1032.1 | some pastors ok with it | STOWOA::SPERA | | Thu Oct 05 1995 15:21 | 8 |
| I have some friends who are home schoolers and who have managed to get
the Church to allow their children the sacraments. I can put you in
touch if you like. They are at a parish in Brighton (Boston).
I think they have developed their own education process and have been
able to ddemonstrate to the pastor that the kids are attuned. Of
course, he sees them with their children in Church every week so that
helps.

| well, the way it goes in our parts, (Leominster/Fitchburg)
Classes start at 1st grade, and continue up to confirmation,
which in the parish we belong is I think 11th grade...
I think first communion for my kids was 3rd or 4th grade....

1032.3 | Acton, Littleton, and vicinity | TUXEDO::FRIDAY | DCE: The real world is distributed too. | Fri Oct 06 1995 10:40 | 10 |
| In Acton, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church,
classes start at 1st grade, first Eucharist
is 2nd grade (which includes OPTIONAL
first experience with Penance), and classes
continue up through confirmation. I believe it's
similar in other parishes in the vicinity.
The classes are generally run by volunteer parents
and are at various parents homes with about 10-12
children per class.

It is. But I recall waaaaaay back when it was just
confession. Took me a long time to start saying
penance. Maybe next decade I'll be saying
reconciliation.

1032.6 | Info for Westboro CCD | USCTR1::BUZZELL | | Tue Oct 10 1995 13:30 | 18 |
| I teach 4th grade CCD classes in Westboro. Our parish teaches CCD
from K-12. 2nd graders here receive their First Communion and 4th
grade receives their First Penance. (In my parish it's still "First
Penance". Parents have the option of having their child receive both
together in 2nd grade. First Communion and Penance are taught seperate
from the CCD classes. They usually meet after school for 1 or 2 weeks
every day, usually around April.
Our regular CCD classes are on Saturday's (3rd,4th,5th & 6th), Sunday's
for the younger grades and evening for the older grades. We have a
Parish center with classrooms, so most classes are held there.
Our CCD program starts this Saturday. There are usually about 10 in
each class.
Hope this helps!
