1009.0. "Circus anyone?" by MSBCS::HRYAN () Thu Aug 24 1995 12:40

    Is anyone aware of any upcoming circus events in either Mass or NH?
    My daughter would love to go and I can't find any.

    Thanks,

    There is one in Acton, MA. The police would probably have the
    information.

    I took Paul to the one in Littleton. He is almost two and enjoyed most
    of it but it was a bit long for him.

    I saw an add in the local paper for Barnum & Bailey circus coming to
    the new Fleet center in early October..like the first week or so. We
    just saw this circus at the Centrum in April, but the new Fleet center
    should be nice. So you may wantt o call tickettron or info for the
    Fleet center box office.

    The circus in Acton is tomorrow (Aug 25th) night. I think there are 2
    shows, 5:30 and 7 something. I saw the poster for it at Idylewilde in
    Acton. I'm pretty sure they were selling tickets for it so you might
    try calling them for info.

I took my son last year and we're going tomorrow
again. He's only 3 now but do remember a lot of things
from last year, when we had a grand old time watching
elephants, horses, dogs, clowns and more

    I took my sons to this circus in Paxton last month. While the circus
    itself was very nice, it was very commercial in terms of presenting
    stuff in your face to buy for the kids - specifically the clown who
    walked through the audience repeatedly selling the coloring book
    program, and then before the big finale, they bring out huge balloons
    for every parent to buy. I was surprised at the commercialism of it.

    Just my 2 cents.

I paid $6 at Idylwilde, I think it is $7 if you buy a ticket
at the circus

Re commercial, yes I remember and agree that there was a strong
push for coloring books and balloons last year, with Jonathan
only 2 years old it was managable for me, not sure how we'll
handle it this time.

    Barnum & Baily is in the San Francisco Bay Area right now. I took my
    almot 3 year old to see it and she loved it, this year and last year.
    I also enjoyed it. This year was a very entertaining show. If you can
    stand the "$5 snow cone" prices, then I would highly recommend seeing
    it when it comes to town. Lots of family fun!

1009.9-Lifetime pass to B & B ?PCBUOA::ERSKINEMon Sep 25 1995 09:278

    I had heard that children born in 1993, the 100th anniversary of
    Barnum & Bailey would receive a lifetime pass. Any idea how to
    get ahold of this pass ? I want to take my 2 1/2 year old in
    October to the Fleet center and would like to use this pass.

1009.101 time passLJSRV1::LEGERMon Sep 25 1995 09:568

    Actually, children born in 1993 didn't get a "life-time" pass, but only
    got a free pass to use 1 time.

    This was initiated by the OBGYN? I think, because we recieved our pass
    for NIcholas in the mail about 2 weeks after he was born.

1009.11-I am certain it was lifetime passPCBUOA::ERSKINEMon Sep 25 1995 10:308

    You could be right, but I remember reading it and hearing it on the TV.
    I am certain it was a lifetime pass (hope, hope), but I don't have the
    number or address to contact. I tried 1-800 for B & B, but there was
    no listing.

	My daughter, Julie, born 1-15-93 got hers. Its a beautiful
	voucher good for 1 ticket to barnum and bailey cirus. Good
	for 1 ticket comparable to one that is purchased.

	It is a REALLY nice certificate. So nice that it was put
	in the safety deposit box, and will be given to her when
	she is old enough (30? 40? 8->) to appreciate it. For us
	its not something that we will use. It has more value
	as a keepsake. Its a color voucher with some really nice
	art work of a calopie and their name/etc....

    I could have sworn I put a note in here back in 1993 when my
    son was born with all the information for getting one of those
    passes, but I sure can;t find it now!! I hope someone knows
    how to get them because I never did get one for my son and
    would sure like to!    Lila

1009.14Here's the info on the free circus ticketSOLVIT::BENZWed Sep 27 1995 11:4223
    I just saw this in the Nashua Telegraph the other day:

    Every baby born in 1995 is entitled to receive his or her first
    ticket to B & B circus free. It is good for one ticket, and redeemable
    at any time during the life time of the child (I'm assuming that
    means once...).

    You mail your name, address, and newborn's name and date of birth
    to:

    Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey
    PO Box 39845
    Edina, MN  55439-9458

    They don't ask for proof of birthdate, so who's to know if
    your "newborn" was born in 1993 or 1994? (they started this in
    1993).

    I'm 5 days overdue and waiting to take advantage of this!

    I used the info in -.1 and got a certificate for my son who
    was born in 1994 (not 1995). It just came Saturday, (i sent for
    it in September) and is good for one show at anytime in his life.
    The circus has come and gone, but it will be better in a few years
    anyway, when he's old enough to enjoy it.
    I just wanted to encourage anyone with new children to write for
    their free certificate!
