942.0. "Coming off the pill and basal temp ?s" by HELIX::ROCHE () Fri Apr 21 1995 16:16

I have some questions on coming off of the pill and basal temperature.

The first two cycles after coming off the pill were more or less
classic. Temperature rise was easily detected, etc. Now in the
third cycle, it seems completely out of whack. The temperature
readings have varied throughout. During the timeframe when the
temperature rose the previous two cycles, this time, I had lots of
lower back pain, cramping, slight spotting, but no temperature rise.
I kept waiting for the temp rise, and it did go up slightly, eventually
reaching 98.0, but that is as high as it's gotten. (previous two
months it has risen from a pre-ovulation 97.7 to a post ovulation
    98.3)

At this point, it's well beyond the previous timing of ovulation.

I'm not sure what to think. Is it possible that after having two
pretty classic cycles, the third time around it's just messed up?
What caused the pain/cramps/spotting around the time of ovulation but
    yet no temperature rise?

    Any insights appreciated!

Re .1 -- that happened to me, too...slight to moderate spotting,
low back pain...I went home and laid down (first pregnancy -- I had
    the time to rest!).

AFter I went off the pill to get pregnant a second time, my periods
were all out of whack. I did not do the basal temperature thing, as
I can barely function until I've been up for 30 minutes and have had
a cup of tea. We were on the verge of trying Clomid when I got
pregnant. Because my monthly cycle was totally screwed up, no one
could tell when I conceived (frankly, I had a pretty good idea...once
you have kids, sex becomes An Event :-)), so I never got a real firm
due date. Our daughter on June 24, a week after one due date and
three weeks after another due date. Go figure.

Anyway, I hope CJ is right and you *are* pregnant! Good luck and
let us know how you're doing.
