    I think this sounds like a neat idea.  I'd like to see entire "family

    Well, we're getting there with responses.  I'm hoping by the end
    of the week we'll see more.  Please feel free to contact anyone
    former conference member (ie: former employee) that you think may
    like to join.
    
    Meanwhile, here's a couple of the guidelines I've thought of, and
    am open to critcism/suggestions:
    
    . Pictures should be no larger than 4 x 6 unless it is the only
     one you are submitting.  I don't expect many of us really want 
     to part with 5 x 7's or 8 x 10's anyways.  But, if there isn't
     a lot of participation we have more room to work with.  This
     can be flexible with time.
    
    . I will enclose a list of NODES::USER then "real names" as a
     table of contents.  Each picture will have the same noted.  We
     may have room for captions too.
    
    . I'd like to limit to two pictures if single child: that is,
      you can have one of the child and one family photo, or one with
      child and mom, one with child with dad, whatever the mix.  If you
      have more than one child - figure on a photo per child plus a
      bonus family photo.  This gives you some leeway on mix and match
      people in the pictures.   AGain, this will be flexible if partici-
      pation is low.  
    
    . I'd like to figure on putting the book together by, I don't know,
      maybe 3 or 4 months from now.  That will give us time to get the
      pictures together, maybe snap some summer shots.  Whatever you 
      think.  Tell me how long a time frame you'd like to leave the
      picture sending open for.   I'd like to say by the end of the
      summer, but then we'd get the book moving in the fall and at times
      it may have to move via USmail.  We don't want to start getting
      bogged down with holiday packages.  But, again, you can tell me
      what you think here.  Of course, the longer we leave "enrollment"
      open, the more we may get in.  That would be nice.   
    
    .  Once I have a good distribution list I will post it here in the
       notes so you can see where you fall.  You can track it's progress.
       Now this is where some pitfalls come in as different people may be
       added as the book starts moving - but I'll keep a close eye on it
       so we can avoid "I was next for the book and now it's going to go
       somewhere else first".  I saw some fur fly in another conference
       over this.  But mostly it was because someone would arrange a party
       that a bunch of noters would be at, and they'd ask it be sent to
       them for the party, while someone who had waited four months for
       the book got bumped because it went back across country, then was
       more convenient to go to this state, then that one....etc...
       We'll try to keep everyone happy here.
    
    . Getting the book from one destination to the next is where we'll
      really work to keep the cost down.  Now the size of the book will
      of course depend on the participation.  I'll arrange the distribu-
      tion so we may be able to do some hand carries.  A lot of that will
      be up to you.  With each entry I'll need to know both the facility
      you work at and the town/state you live in.
    
    . Pictures added as the book moves - hmmm... we'll have to work that
     as it goes.  Ideally I'd like them to come to me so I can send them
     onto the book with a new "table of contents", but if the book is in
     an office in your facility - well it makes more sense for you to 
     just add it.  We'll work this as it goes.  Mailing photos to whoever
     has the book, could delay the book.  So you'd have to check on who
     should get the book next and mail to them.
    
    Ok, well that's what I have for now.  I'm hoping to see more responses
    and will leave this open now for discussion.

    My guidelines mention USmail, and town/state you live work and
    live in.  I don't want this to sound like I'm limiting to  US
    noters.  I'd love to see this thing travel overseas also.

    I don't know who you'd go to, but I know that groups/clubs that are
    Digital "sponsered" are allowed to use Interoffice Mail for mailing
    some things around.  For example, the RC (Remote Control) flying club,
    is a Digital-Sponsored (that may not be exactly the right term for it)
    club.  They tape many of their flying "meets", and are allowed to use
    interoffice mail to send the tapes around.  Dave Hartwell might be a
    good person to get in touch with the find out more about this.  Or, I
    thought I've seen Jeff Friedrich's in here now and then??

    This is great.  I'm glad to see people getting on the band
    wagon!  At first I was getting a little sheepish there!
    
    Keep those replies coming!  Also, I need suggestions on the 
    initial cut-off time.  I'm thinking sometime toward the beginning

    Definately, the book should be sent on a per site basis.  If there are
    7 people at a site, the book would stay 7 days, perhaps (or maybe 14
    since some people will want to take it home).  Then the 7 people can
    get together on the US mail cost if interoffice mail will not allow.
    
    Another suggestion... collect the names of people that travel between
    sites on business who might be willing to deliver the book to another
    site!

    Well, I'd say we have enough interest to make this a go!
    
    Unless someone has objections, I'd like to make the end of
    June the deadline for pictures.  That gives us time for
    updating and/or to contact previous noters that may have
    left DEC but you think still have a good interest in this
    file.

    I think, judging by the show of hands, we can also increase the
    amount of pictures by at least one per family.  This will still
    keeps us within a reasonable size and allow room for add-on's once
    the book starts moving.   Also, we may be able to re-send this by
    the time it's done.  Perhaps do an update later or something.  We'll
    address all that once the book stops moving.

    . your work location and hometown (this will help with setting
      up the distribution)

    The way it goes now....
    
    If you have a single child - you can send three pictures
    
    If you have more than one child you can send one per child plus
    two extras.  That way you can mix and match people in the pictures.
    
    ex:  two children = four pictures, ie: maybe one picture with mommy 
     and daddy, maybe one each of the children, maybe one of the children 
     together, whatever the mix...
    
    ex:  one child - three pictures, ie: maybe three alone!  maybe one
     with mom, one with dad, one with grampy and grammy... whatever the
     mix
    
    ex: four kids - geesh...have a ball! you get six pictures and probably
     a page and a half all your own!  :-)

    It's the beginning of June, remember - we'd like the deadline
    on the BRAG BOOK to be the end of this month.  So far I've gotten
    zero pictures, but I expect they'll start coming in during this
    month, right?
    
    There's been a bunch of new arrival announcements, I hope some of
    you will join the BRAG BOOK distribution so we can see these new
    little cherubs.

    I've been busy as all heck here and just now got time to update.
    
    To date, I've gotten maybe half the pictures of the people on the
    list.  The first one I got about a week before the deadline, which
    is obviously extended.  :-)

    with this.  First the incoming pictures were slow (the first one
    arrived a week before deadline), then vacations, etc.... Excuses,
    I got a million of them!

    and your name is missing.

    Actually, Dave, there was more replies than actual participation.
    I got about five pictures!
    
    And I'm glad you asked!  Because they are all still here, and someone
    else once asked for their's back and I lost their mail message.
    
    I am going to be out next week, but after that, write me so I can
    return them.  Unless there's a revival in interest.  I'm open to 
    trying again.
