809.0. "Dancing Lessons?" by MONKC::TRIOLO () Mon Aug 22 1994 11:26

    Dancing Lessons?

    	I'm looking for a dancing or movement class for my
    3 1/2 year old in the Boylston/W. Boylston area.

    	I think she would really enjoy a ballet class. Something fun.

809.1not sure how far Hudson is but I think its closeCHORDZ::WALTERMon Aug 22 1994 12:5713
    Jean's school of dance (or gymnastics) in Hudson/Marlboro. Is this
    close?

    Been in business for many many years. Jean might not even be alive
    still and if not, Linda LaSage probably own the business. This was
    her manager.

    I went there from 5-17 years of age. I also taught there when I was a
    teenager (gymnastics). When I started competing in gymnastics I went
    for dance and then later came to their gymnastics teams. They were top
    in the state a few years ago.

809.5Karen White StudiosTFH::CKELLERMon Aug 22 1994 15:5210
    My 11 year old niece has been taking ballet, tap, etc. lessons at Karen
    White's dance studio in West Boylston for about 5 years. She loves it,
    they have great instructors, and are really great with the little ones.
    I go to their recitals every year, and really enjoy all the dance
    numbers. I am not sure of the address, and phone number. It is
    located right next to the Lucky Lady, right on West Boylston Street.
    Good Luck!

    Follow up on the basenote.

    	I tried the Karen White School of Dance recommend by 809.5.
    My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves it. There are 9 girls in her class.
    It costs $34.00/month. It's half tap/half ballet. Tap is done in
    their "party" shoes so you don't have to go out and buy taps.

    	Allison has had 3 classes. Starting next Saturday, one set of
    parents a week may watch the class.

	I have two daughters who go to Judy A. Hermans School of Dance
	in Shrewsbury, on RT9 next to Penny Pinchers and across from HQ

	My oldest daughter has been dancing there for 7 years and loves it.

	This is a very nice school with a very educated dance teacher
	and very loving/caring atmosphere.

	Check the yellow pages for the number of the school.

	She teaches all kinds of dancing, tap, jazz, ballett, ponte,
	all ages

809.11Performing Arts Theater in SterlingWMOIS::PHILPOTMon Feb 13 1995 14:2115
    Mai,

    My 4.5 year old daughter has been taking ballet/tap lessons for
    2 years at the Performing Arts Theater in Sterling, and she really
    loves it there. PAT is on Rt 62, near the Sterling/Lancaster line.
    The phone # is 422-6989, and the owner is Lisa Cousineau. 4.5 year
    olds are usually in 45 minute lessons, which cost $25/month.

    The teachers that my daughter has had have been great with the young
    kids, making the lessons fun, while still teaching them things. They do
    put on a recital every June, altho being in the recital is not mandatory.

    If you have any questions, feel free to send me mail.

    -Lynne
809.12Dancing lessonsDKAS::DKAS::OLEARYNancy A. BroderickTue Apr 02 1996 13:386
I'm interested in finding any information on dance lessons (ballet, Irish
dancing, or other) for my daughter. She is three years old and appears to
be interested. Is this too early to start? We live in Framingham and wonder
if there's anything around that area.

Thank you.
809.13Me, tooMAL009::MAGUIREWed Apr 03 1996 08:396
    I, too, would be interested in this topic. Grandaughter is same age,
    and I've been considering a gift of dance lessons. But, we're north of
    Boston, in Peabody area.

    Thanks,
    Lorraine

    My soon-to-be 3 year old tags along every week when her older sister
    attends dance class. Courtney not only is interested, she knows the
    entire dance for the recital! She will be attending class beginning
    September.

    I think readiness depends on the kid. Shannon, my oldest did not have
    an interest until 4.5 years old.
