Jeanne,
I'm praying for them! I just can't even imagine how they must feel,
but I'm praying they're feeling terrific and have their daughter
back soon.
Please send me some flyers, I'll distribute them around the group
and to friends and family at home.

Can we get the base note posted at our Digital facilities in the New
York Area? We have a Rochester office, (Site Code RCO), which should
be very close to Rochester. We could also contact other sites in New
York, or all over the US for that matter - what do you think of this
idea?
I made a call to Personnel in New York City and got the name of a Human
Resource person who covers Rochester, even though she is based out of
Connecticut. She is out of the office today, but her name is Judy Warner
(misspelled?) and her DTN is 320-5332.
Or should we simply send this note to ANYONE we know on the system and
get it forwarded around the company in an informal way?
These are my thoughts & I will also pray for the safe return of this
little girl!

Christy Hill

| I'm going to be real quick here, since I just got kicked out with my
first attempt.
I am the base noter. I am in the RCO Site which is in Upstate New
York (Rochester office). New York City is approx 6 hours away from
here. I have sent posters to someone from New York University and he
is going to try to put it on an IBM Internet (Genie? (SP?)). But I
have no contacts in the NYO site, so I've not sent any posters there.
To date, I've sent posters to:
Littleton, MA (LKG
Maynard, MA (MS02 and ML05)
Colorado Springs, CO (CX03)
Nashua, NH (MK01 and MK02)
Rutland, MA
Burlington, MA (OFO)
I am heading out to Vermont in about 20 minutes for vacation, but I am
going to stop at every exit along the Thruway to ensure the toll booths
have Kali's picture up.
If anyone wants fliers while I'm gone (returning here Tuesday, if I
don't get TSFO'd), please contact Cindy Siragusa @RCO,
UNYEM::SIRAGUSAC, or DTN 252-7042.
There is no updates to report on Kali. Some of us from the office
visited Kali's mother yesterday and she is holding up remarkably well
considering the hell she's in.
A reminder that Judy and Dave will be on American Journal tonight and
America's Most Wanted on Saturday pm.
Thank you all so much - again!! Please keep the prayers coming.
Bless you all,

748.11 | 2 Field offices will post flyers | ONE800::CHILL | | Thu May 26 1994 18:28 | 34 |
| Cindy Siragusac from RCO will be Fed-Xing some flyers to my home in
Massachusetts by Saturday. So far, I've been able to contact 2
Digital field offices who have agreed to post the flyers:
ACI (Elk Grove Village, Illinois)
ALF (Alpharetta, Georgia)
I'll be sending the flyers to their homes, but we'll lose a day because
of the federal holiday. My contact in Alpharetta works in Personnel and
has agreed to make copies/send flyers to other Personnel folks in other
field facilities. She mentioned North Carolina and Florida.
I work in Marlboro, MA, so I can put the flyers around the MR0 campus
(Buildings 1, 2, 3, and 4) on Tuesday. I pass other facilities on my
route to work and can stop and put flyers at Tewksbury and
Dascomb Road)
I also have friends/relatives in these cities I plan to send flyers to:
St. Louis, Missouri
San Mateo, California
Bakersfield, California
New York, NY
Overland Park, Kansas
Marietta, Georgia
Rapid City, South Dakota
As I think up more ways to reach people, I'll add another note. I wish
there was a way to contact the Public Announcements that we receive
several times a day over the network. They must have a terrific
distribution list!
Hope this helps!

I also will be stopping by the police departments in the local area. I
know the Nashua police department has information on Kali, but I don't
think they have a picture yet.
I also have some contacts in the police departments in Nashua,
Merrimack, Hollis, Milford, and Wilton.
If every one of us tells just 10 people and they tell 10 people and
they tell 10 people...hopefully we'll find her soon.

| This is awful. I would be physically ill if this happened to my
son or daughter. I wouldn't be much good at work. I hope Kali's
parents can fare a little better. May God look out for Kali.
Sometimes I think I get too paranoid, yelling at my son not to
go around to the front yard where we can't see him, but things
like this make me wonder if you ever can be too paranoid. My
wife and I always remind ourselves it only takes a second for
someone to destroy your world.
If someone does get a picture scanned in, maybe they could get
it onto the Internet World-Wide-Web. Web browsers can display
GIF images inline, and a lot of people are looking at it
throughout the country (and the world...), not just within
Digital. It would give the same wide electronic distribution
as Easynet, but externally. Maybe someone with the resources
could even set up a Web missing children's server that could
show pictures and info on many children. It would also make
the information instantly available to many government and
law enforcement agencies (though I doubt many PD's are hooked
up yet). That would be a good use of our taxpayer-funded
Internet.

| Denise,
The posters are en route. Thank you for helping.
All,
There is no new information regarding Kali. They was a glimmer of hope
over the weekend when a big-wheel was found in a dump in a village
about 50-60 miles from Kali's home, but it turned out to be the wrong
bike.
Kali's parents are still coping. There have been several prayer
services in the area for Kali and lots of fund-raising efforts going
on. Unfortunately, there are also some scam-artists out there trying
to make a profit on this tragedy (attempts to sell the posters for
$1.00 each, people going door-to-door to raise money for Kali, etc).
That sickens me.
We're still hoping and praying.
Thanks - again - for what you are all doing.

748.22 | Any updates?/Contacts & Poster Locations | ONE800::CHILL | | Mon Jun 06 1994 10:09 | 59 |
| Is there any update as of today, June 6th? I don't work on Fridays and
I haven't seen anything new in the notesfile. I received four flyers
from Ken Ferguson in Pittsford, NY (and a special thanks for sending
them Overnight express) on Thursday, June 2nd.
I've posted about 15+ flyers in my community and I wanted to record
where I've placed posters so others won't have to go there themselves:
Andover High School, Andover, MA
Beacon Hill High School, Brookline, MA
Demoulas/Market Basket, Wilmington, MA
First Parish Congregational Church, Wakefield, MA
Gateway to Learning Day Care, Route 38, Woburn, MA
Post Office, Lexington, MA

Post Office, Woburn, MA
Public Library, Reading, MA (Need to check whether display is "ok")
Public Library, Stoneham, MA
Public Library, Wilmington, MA
Public Library, Woburn, MA (Reference has to "ok" the display)
I've also sent copies to 20 friends in various cities. I thought I'd
mention which cities I have contacts to encourage other people to do the
same! I also send a copy of the letter from the Adam Walsh Center in
New York (716) 272-0900 with my flyers so that people will "register"
where they post the flyers. I need to register the above public places
myself so that they can record it.
Two people I gave flyers to have displayed them in their car windows
thinking that in traffic, people will see the picture of Kali Ann.
Anywhere, here are the cities where my contacts reside:
In My state Out of My state
Waltham, MA New York, NY (Grenich Village)
Framingham, MA Alpharetta, Georgia (DEC facility)

Northboro, MA
Edgartown, MA
I may be getting laid off (as the rest of us may) and I want to provide
my home number in case there is any news about Kali Ann Poulton. I
will also continue to display/send flyers to more people every chance I
get. I still have about 20 more contacts of my own that I haven't
tapped yet.
Please keep me updated if at all possible.

748.23 | Update | UNYEM::SANFORDJ | Respect yourself.... | Tue Jun 07 1994 10:18 | 25 |
| The search for Kali is continuing. There really is no update to
report, unfortunately.
Some of you may have heard the story about a man in Naperville, Ill who
reported he heard kicking and screaming coming from a white Aerostar
van in a parking lot. He stated that when he looked inside he saw a
small child bound and gagged. He then reported that the driver of the
van then came over to him, threatened him and swore at him to leave the
van alone. The man in the van drove away, the witness called the
police.
He gave a description of the man and the child and there seemed to be
similarities between the child in the van and Kali. The police here in
Rochester insisted from the beginning that there were no connections.
However, the whole thing was a hoax. The man made the entire story up.
He is now facing a misdemeanor felony charge for falsly reporting an
incident to police.
It's inconceivable to me how someone could do something as low and sick
as that.
Again, thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.

Yes, it was Robert Wood. Sara Ann Wood was abducted one year ago last
Thursday while riding her bike near her home. Her body has never been
found but Lewis (not sure of the first name) Lent of Massachusetts is a
prime suspect in her case, though he has not been charged.
Bob Wood's reason for doing the walk was to keep Kali on everyone's
mind, as well as the plight of missing children everywhere. He
mentioned that he is going to stay out of the spotlight from this point
on, and re-focus on raising his other children.
It was quite a feat, and something the entire community appreciated,
especially, of course, Judy (Kali's mom).

| Gail,
No new updates. Kali was to start school yesterday, yesterday was
Judy's birthday, and next week is Kali's 5th birthday. The police
department has closed the command post they set up back in May, located
a block or two from where Judy and Kali live. The case is still very
much open, but the command post was located about 15 miles away from
the department's headquarters, which is where all the equipment is
located. They said it was an economical dicision only. The same
number of detectives are on the case, however.
There are no leads. Judy is holding her own, still full of hope.
I am trying to get new posters out to those that responded, but I need
to get another supply (mine got ruined in my trunk).
Where is she???

The rumor was that Kali's grandmother or somebody like that had her,
but after investigation, she didn't have her.
But then again, Jeanne would know more on this.

| I'm back. Sorry. I was hoping to get over to the Adam Walsh Center
before I left last week for more posters, but didn't get there.
Hope to get some this week.
Regarding the rumors: They are RUMORS. Family members in 4
different states have been, and continue to be investigated. People should
put more effort into helping to find her rather than listening to all
the rumors flying around. People tend to focus on the one about her being
taken from a family member for two reasons: 1. The majority of child
abductions do involve family members; 2. It's easier to believe this
than to think of the other possibilities.
Bottom line, a 4 1/2 year old girl has been missing for almost 4
months. This is somebody's daughter. This is a child who has been robbed
of her parents and her innocence. This is a beautiful little girl who
was to start kindegarten this month.
This is a little girl who will turn 5 years old tomorrow and won't
be having a birthday party with her family.

| Are there any updates on Kali? I almost hate to even ask. No news is
sad news. Her picture is hanging in the Ladies rest room in this
facility, so I'm reminded of her every day.

| I haven't spoken to Kali's mom in a couple of weeks, but no, there are
no new leads coming in, and there is no news to report.
And yes, you're right. No news is very sad news, indeed.
Please keep Kali in your prayers.
Jeanne
ps: To those that have asked for fliers and haven't received them yet,

| I'm sorry - haven't had much time to check the notesfiles lately...
No news. Kali will be featured again on America's Most Wanted, though
I'm unsure of when (sometime between now and May is all I know).
A music video was recently made, complete with home shots of Kali
and her Mom, set to a song written for Kali. The Adam Walsh Children's
Resource Center is trying to get MTV and VH-1 to air the song and
video.
Kali's mother is holding her own, though quite honestly, I don't know
how she manages day-to-day.
The search continues, as do all of our hopes and prayers.
Thank you for keeping Kali in your thoughts.
Since I don't get into this file much, please feel free to contact
me via vaxmail.
Thank you all,
Jeanne

Former neighbor confesses to strangling girl missing since 1994
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Aug 10, 1996 1:41 p.m. EDT) -- A former neighbor confessed
to abducting and strangling a 4-year-old girl who vanished more than two
years ago while riding her Big Wheel on a quiet suburban sidewalk,
authorities said.
Hours after security guard Mark Christie was charged with second-degree
murder Friday night, police found a body early today thought to be the
remains of Kali Poulton.
Christie, 24, who lived with his infant son not far from Kali's home in a
secluded subdivision in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, confessed to the
crime, police said.
Kali's disappearance in May 1994 mystified police and prompted a nationwide
search. At the time, authorities said all 300 residents in the housing
estate were interviewed at least once but no suspects were identified.
Monroe County Sheriff Andrew Meloni said a tip led to Friday's arrest of
Christie, who had since moved to a small town east of Rochester. He said
Christie confessed to abducting and killing the girl and told police where
he disposed of the body.
Police said they found a body when they emptied a water tank in a Northern
Telecommunications building on Rochester's east side where Christie worked.
An autopsy was to be performed today.
Christie was arraigned Friday night in Pittsford Town Court and was being
held in the Monroe County Jail.
Kali's mother, Judy Gifford, said she remembered talking casually to
Christie at a local playground in the months before Kali disappeared and
becoming suspicious when he made admiring comments about her daughter. Kali
used to help Christie's 18-month-old son on the slide, she said.
"He would say, 'Your daughter's a very precious little girl' and I'd say
'Thank you.' We were accustomed to hearing that.
"But then he'd make comments like, 'I look at all the little girls out here
and your daughter is far the prettiest.' That made me feel uncomfortable and
when I'd see him outside (again), I'd not be near him.
"Here was a man in his 20s admiring a 4-year-old child. That's not right."
It was around dinnertime on May 23, 1994, when Kali got her pink-and-white
Big Wheel out of the shed. She rode back and forth on the sidewalk, her
mother glimpsing her periodically through the window. When Gifford came out
a few minutes later, Kali and her tricycle had vanished.
Gifford, 32, has passed out posters at toll booths and county fairs,
consulted psychics, appeared on talk shows, persuaded airlines to stuff
Kali's picture in ticket jackets and pediatricians to keep missing children
albums.
All over metropolitan Rochester on the southern shore of Lake Ontario, the
photo of the little girl with dimples and waist-length blond hair was
displayed on car windows, office walls and storefronts.
Every year in America, an estimated 300 children are kidnapped by strangers.
As many as half of them are killed.
"This certainly comes as a shock," Gifford said. "I always felt that she was
alive and I was going to find her and bring her home.
Sobbing in her doorway next to her former husband, David Poulton, she added:
"We are totally devastated, in shock, as totally blindsided by this as we
were the day she disappeared."

I heard this the other day and felt so sad for the parents and
friends and relatives and all the people who tried so desperately
to find that little girl. It makes me so sick to think that a grown
man would murder a little girl.

| I read this in the paper and immediately went and held my daughter.
She didn't know why I held her so long and with such emotion.
I can only imagine the anguish and devastation that the parents are
feeling. May they gain strength from the good and loving people who
surround them.
