be a good place.

| The teen magazines should be able to help!
I remember writing to Shawn Cassidy ---- he never wrote back...:^(
I was heart broken back then so you may want to make sure that your
daughter is not expecting a letter back. I did have friends who
got autographed pictures back though -

| Thanks for the replies. I think we'll take a trip to the library to
do a little research, so we don't send off a letter with false hopes
and dreams. The library experience will be good and will hopefully
produce an address which increases our chance of a response.
Thanks,
Dave

I can't resist telling my story.
When I was eight, I used to watch
Disney on Sunday nights. It was different every
week, sometimes cartoons, sometimes nature specials,
sometimes an hour play, or 2-3 weeks of one of their
movies. Walt Disney always introduced the show.
One week, after watching Kurt Russell do something
or other in the movies, I decided to write a letter
to Walt Disney, volunteering to be in one of his
movies. If Kurt could do it, I could do it.
I actually got a letter back - with a real signature.
He thanked me for my interest but thought I should
finish school first. He also said acting is very hard
work, and I wouldn't have much time to play with
my friends, but if I still wanted to be in a movie
after I finished high school, I should write again.
I had always liked him before this, but I *loved* him
after I got that letter.

651.5 | Writers? | SALEM::GILMAN | | Wed Dec 15 1993 08:28 | 6 |
| One would think that a famous star would at the least have 'writers' to
write back to the fans, with at least some sort of letter that appears
to have been customized. You know, like the Senators and Congressmen
do.

Pat, neat story! thanks for sharing that with us. I hope my
daughter's experience turns out similar.
I stopped in the WPI library after a seminar on campus and did
a quick search through their data base. I found a book titled:
"The Fan Club Directory" and it is available at the Worcester Public
Library. So we may have a productive library trip after all.

| I suspect that Ask the Globe gave his address in recent months, so they're
unlikely to answer it again. They get the information from some reference
book or other, so maybe your local reference librarian can help.

Well, we found a great reference book for children entitled:
" The Kids Address Book ". It includes the addresses of celebrities,
television shows, and many public and private agencies that children
may be interested in writing to. The book was available at the
Worcester Public Library but it can also be obtained through bookstores
for $8.95. Macaulay Culkin's address was in the book for my daughter
and I even found Big Bird's address for our preschooler.
Happy Holidays!
