650.0. "HELP! what do 9yr old Boys like?" by USCTR1::MMCCALLION () Mon Dec 13 1993 16:11

We were given the name of a 9 yr old boy from the NRO Shelter for a
xmass gift. Problem is they do not have ANY information on this child:
what HE would like for a gift, what clothing size or even what is
"common" for 9 yr old boys like to do with their time

I need help. The item has to be at the company by this Wed.

    Any ideas are welcome

-< HELP! what do 9yr old Boys like? >-

This tops the Christmas list at my house..........

My almost 9 year old and every other kid his age are playing a game
called "Pogs". Little disks the size of bottle caps are flipped -
they call it "slammed". Anyway, the pogs (about $1.00 for 4) are carried
everywhere in a little round container with a lid (about $2.00).

Most baseball card and comic book stores are selling pogs, as well as some
of the discount warehouses. (We're in Southern Calif)

You can't go wrong with a lego kit and a study bag or bin to carry them
in. Being in the Red Cross center any toys you may get should be
portable as some families are transiant. Travel type games would
pack better should the family need to move.

One of the items the child our group is sponsoring requested is
etch & sketch. This is portable. We also bought mega blocks -
similar to legos which comes in a container to store them in. In
addition X-Men figures, basketball/football package and Hotwheel cars.
Some children will need hats and gloves for the winter. We also
bought a gift certificate at Sears to go towards sneakers for the
boy. For clothes you may get a sweatshirt, around boys large. We
enclosed a sealed envelop addressed to his Mom with the receipt
and tags for the clothes just in case she needs to exchange them.

    Happy Holidays

This may be a little late, but X-men, GIJoe, HotWheels, etc are all
good items. My 8 1/2 yr old is hoping for a game called Eat At Ralphs
(I'm not supplying this one, sorry!), or Snardvaark. Also those small
action figures like GIJoe, Start Trek, Batman.

Unfortunately, PowerRangers are also a big hit, but very hard to find!
