376.1Playmates wanted in Clinton, MA areaMARLIN::CAISSIETue Nov 03 1992 13:3014
    I'd like to find some Thursday playmates for my children (3-year old
    son and 7-month old daughter). I'm interested in joining an existing
    playgroup or in meeting with another parent or two and their children
    to start a small, informal playgroup.

    I live in Clinton, Mass. and would like to meet with folks within a
    20-minute radius.

    Please send mail to MARLIN::CAISSIE.

    Thanks,

376.2PLAYGROUPS IN THE NASHUA AREA: 2-3 YR OLDSABACUS::SCHMELZERMon Mar 29 1993 10:5125

    I did a dir/title search and couldn't find the topic.

    My wife and I are looking for a play group for 2-3 yr olds in the
    Nashua NH area. If anyone knows of such a group, we would be
    interested.

    We have a 2 yr old boy who needs kids his own age to play with.
    (taking his little sister's toys isn't stimulating enough.)

    If there are no responses we would be interested in starting our
    own play group. If there are others out there like us, contact
    my wife at home during the day.

376.4Playgroup in Bolton, MA neededMEMIT::GIUNTAWed May 05 1993 09:4318
    I'd like to move my 2-year-old twins out of the Early Intervention
    playgroup and get them involved with other children their age who are
    not developmentally delayed. My kids could use the interaction with
    other children their age to help them improve things like their speech
    skills. They are at/passed their chronological age for social skills
    and some gross and fine motor skills, but need some work on that
    speech.

    We live in Bolton, MA. They currently have Thursdays free, but will
    also have Tuesdays and Fridays free since that is when their current
    playgroup meets.

    I can be reached at MEMIT::GIUNTA or at DTN 223-0314. At home, I can
    be reached at 508-779-6069.

    Thanks,
    Cathy

RE: .3

Can someone provide a current number for the Nashua Mother's Club?
I'd like to find (or start) a playgroup for my 19-month old.
The number given in .3 appears to be outdated; the person who
answered knew nothing of the Mother's Club.

376.6Weekday playgroup in Seattle area wantedLINGO::WATERSWed Oct 19 1994 11:2819
I have a friend who will be moving from Reading, England to Seattle, USA.

She has two boys 6 years and 2 1/2 years old.

She would like to find out about activities to entertain her youngest son and
herself during the day.

She is a teacher by profession but will not be allowed to work while she is in
the States.

If anyone can pass on information about toddler groups, coffee mornings, creche
facilities it would be really appreciated.

Even a pointer to where to find out more information would help.

Thanks in advance

Heather
376.7Some ideas in SeattleDECWET::WOLFEWed Oct 19 1994 15:3521
There are two publications in Seattle that give information
on playgroups and activities: they are called Eastside Parent
and Seattle Parent (I may need to check the name). There
is usally a copy at a local library. I pick a copy up
monthly - if you would like me to send a copy let me know.

With regard to toddler groups - that will all depend on the
area she lives in. For example, in the area I am in there
are more "formal" groups like one for ex-working moms who
get together at a local church and then I know a group in
our neighborhood gets together weekly. The YMCA also offers
activities where parents and kids get together.

I find this area has many activities available for kids, from
storytimes at the local library, to the Science center, the
aquarium and local zoo.

Also there is a Seattle notesfile (DECWET::SEATTLE). It
isn't that active put you may get additional ideas there.

Good Luck ... Iris

376.9Is your baby social?ALFA1::PEASLEEThu Jun 15 1995 17:4114
    I am looking for a playgroup in the Sterling, Ma. area for my 10 month
    old daughter. If none exist, I would be very willing to start a
    playgroup.

    My parents take care of my daughter three days a week and she does not
    have any interaction with any other children. At this point she really
    needs the interaction.

    If your child isn't in a playgroup and you are in the same situation
    that I am, I'd certainly be open to working something out where our
    kids could get more exposure to others their own age.

    Thanks,
    Nancy

376.11A Grandmothers' ViewMAL009::MAGUIRESat Jun 24 1995 03:4631
    Re .9

    Hi,...browsing through tonight and saw your note. I'm a grandmother
    who takes care of my 2yr/2mo. old grandaughter 2 days a week; the other
    grandmother takes her the other 3. Personally, at 10 months old, I
    wouldn't much worry about interaction with other kids.

    I just began taking Olivia to a Gymboree group in last fall when she was
    about 1 1/2. We go one day a week for about 1 hour. She seems to be
    doing fine. She's very well adjusted, is very secure, and a friendly,
    enjoyable little girl, polite, compassionate and a very happy child.

    We've made some contact with a few other children there, one of whom
    seems to be similar to Olivia; and I liked the mother, too. They live
    fairly close, and this summer I plan to meet with this particular mother/
    daughter in a playground to give them (the two little girls) a little
    more exposure to each other. It's a nice playground, one of those 'fort
    type/climbing everywhere' things! I went there once with her myself
    and she loved it.

    At times I feel there is too much emphasis and/or concern placed on
    attaining social skills and 'social' interaction for babies. At this
    time of their lives, they need to be loved and cared for, talked to,
    played with, etc. preferrably by family who do love them the most.
    There is much time for them to learn the 'social' thing later, and I
    think much of it comes naturally. Especially if they're being raised
    in a common sense way, and their needs being met; love, sleep, food,
    and feeling they are important and valued and enjoyed.

    Regards,
    Lorraine/Nana
376.12Marlboro playgroup anyone?MROA::MEDIARSPWed Jun 28 1995 08:5714
    Hi,

    I would also be interested in a playgroup in the Marlboro area. I work
    out of my home full time but would still be interested either on
    weekends, evenings (not too late as my 5.5 month old gets tired early)
    or even an hour or two one day a week. If anyone knows of a group
    already established or would like to get one together please e-mail me.

    Thanks,

    Are there any members of the Milford Mothers Club in this note (I
    assume that's the name, my daycare provider said she was a member a few
    years ago)? Or does it still exist? I'd like to find a play group for
    my son that doesn't just involve moms but includes dads as well. I
    live in Milford, New Hampshire.

    Yes, Aaron is only 6 months old, but I would like him to observe and
    interact with children around his age since he doesn't have
    any cousins in the area and he spends his time with older children or
    adults.

    If you are a member or know that number for a Milford, New Hampshire
    mothers group, could you please send me mail?

    thanks,

376.15Need a playgroup for my daughterNPSS::PEIWed Dec 06 1995 13:1312
    I have a 21 months old daughter and would like to find a playgroup for
    her. I work full time but any evening or weekends would be fine for me.
    We live in Stow, MA. My daughter speaks only Chinese and communicate
    with us pretty well. She knows some English words from TV. I would say
    that at the beginning it would be hard for her to communicate with
    other children but she will pick up quickly. Please send e-mail or call
    me if you are interested or you know somebody who might be interested.
