We're looking for a housecleaner in the WEST BOYLSTON MA area.  We live
right on the Sterling/West Boylston border  near Rt 190 and Rt. 140.

Ideally we would like someone to come during the week, every other week
or weekly (negotiable).  Activities would include washing floors, vacuming, 
cleaning bathrooms and strip/wash bedding.  References a must.

    Would like someone to come every other week.  Work would include
    washing dining room floor (hardwood), kitchen floor, cleaning

    Is anyone interested in the list I drew up for what I expect the
    housekeeper to do?  It is rather long but since they might close my
    account any day I'd rather post it than offer to mail it.
    
    My housekeepr used to work 12 hours a week.  I now have her for four
    hours a week.

    OK, here goes.  It is rather long and detailed because when I was
    working I expected the housekeeper to do everything with no direction
    from me.  She came three times a week, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,
    for four hours a time.
    
							   FREQUENCY
                                                      
GENERAL                                                    
                                                           
1. Vacuum and, where appropriate, wash all floors.     	Monday and Friday

2. Dust all the picture frames.			       	Once per week

3. Clean windows.					Once per month

4. Do not open windows without mosquito nets except
   to clean them.

5. Do not use fish tank cleaning material for cleaning.

6. Leave a note or the empty container of products
   that need replacing.


BEDROOM UPSTAIRS

1. Make beds.  						Every time

2. Change beds, Linens ONLY for upstairs are in closet. Every three weeks

3. Beach towels belong in the drawer under the bed.

4. Do not scratch the furniture when cleaning around
   the porcelain animals and lamps.

5. Remove stains from the carpet with a carpet spray.	As needed

6. Dust books.						Once per week

7. Vacuum carpet thoroughly.				Monday and Friday

8. Dust furniture.					Monday and Friday


BATHROOM UPSTAIRS

1. Clean shower and walls removing any white film.	Monday and Friday

2. Clean bathtub.  Use only non-abrasive product and	As needed
   sponges as the tub is plastic.

3. Dust the borders around the tub.			Monday and Friday

4. If there is calcaire building up, remove it.		As needed
   Use one of the anti-calcaire products to remove 
   calcaire from the shower head.

5. Check to make sure you have not accidentally 
   switched on the infrared heater.


TOILET UPSTAIRS

1. Clean floor, sink, bidet, toilet.  Do not leave 	Monday and Friday
   any stains in the toilet.  Use a green scratch 
   pad to remove them if necessary.

2. Clean the mirror.					As needed

3. Dust the horizontal surfaces including lamp bases.	Occasionally

4. Bring up toilet paper from downstairs.		As needed

5. Towels which belong upstairs are green, yellow or
   orange tones.  Fold them neatly on the shelves.
   (Blue, brown and beige towels go on the ground floor,
   Pink, burgundy and white towels go in the basement)

6. Empty the wastebasket and replace the plastic bag.	Once a week


CLOTHES CLOSET

1. Empty the baskets with dirty clothes (take them to 	Each time
   the laundry room)

2. Every few months, put some order in the closet.	As needed

3. Recuperate empty hangers for ironing.

4. Vacuum floor.					Occasionally


BALCONY AREA

1. Do not touch the computer.  It is not necessary to 
   clean the desks around the computer.  Clean under 
   the desks, being careful of cords.

2. Be extremely careful not to scratch the wood floor.

3. Dust the books and bookshelves at least once a	Once a month
   month.  Use the vacuum cleaner for this.

4. Dust the other horizontal surfaces.  Don't forget	Once a week
   the table legs.

5. Vacuum rugs and upholstered furniture.		Once a week


BOYS' ROOMS

1. If they are already orderly enough, straighten them 	Once a week
   and vacuum carpets.

2. If you can easily do it, remove old wrappings, 	As possible
   dirty glasses, dirty clothes, etc.


BATHROOM AND TOILET

1. Clean as above for other bath.  Use decalcer for	Monday and Friday
   shower fixtures and folding wall.

2. It is imperative to clean the boys' toilet well, 	Monday and Friday
   especially the walls and floor.  Clean the toilet
   brush holder too.

3. Make sure the toilet bowl freshener hangs in the
   toilet bowl.  Replace it if it is empty.

4. Take dirty clothes to laundry room.


DINING AREA

1. Vacuum rug and under edge of rug.  Wash floor 	Monday and Friday
   around rug.

2. DO NOT bang vacuum cleaner on table legs or sideboard.
   Do not let chairs hit against sideboard.  Do not 
   scratch sideboard.

3. Vacuum walls to free them of dog hair.		As needed

4. Wipe plastic place mats.				As needed

5. Dust sideboard.					Monday and Friday

6. Remove any dead flowers.


MUSIC ROOM

1. Dust surfaces including entire piano.		Monday and Friday

2. Vacuum carpet.					Monday and Friday

3. Clean flower area.					Occasionally


KITCHEN

1. Take empty bottles to basement and sort them.	Each time

2. Clean horizontal surfaces-
	Counter
	Sink
	Stovetop

3. Clean dog's bed.  Remove bed and clean around it.	Once a week

4. Only if full, replace garbage bag with 110 lt.	As needed
   bag.  Take full bag to garage.

5. Empty dishwasher if clean.  Put dishes, glasses,	As needed
   etc. away only where you are certain they belong.

6. Clean oven.						Occasionally

7. Clean refrigerator.					Occasionally

8. Clean dishwasher sieve and door.			Occasionally

9. Clean cupboards and broom closet.  The broom closet	Occasionally
   and cupboard under the sink should be cleaned
   more frequently.

10. Very occasionally polish copper and brass decorations.

11. Dust shelves and glass jars.			Occasionally


LIVING ROOM

1. Dust, use furniture polish on wood.			Monday and Friday

2. Vacuum carpets, floor and furniture.			Monday and Friday

3. Clean (dust) television.				Once a week

4. Empty fireplace once per week.  DO NOT use vacuum	Once per week
   cleaner for this.


DOWNSTAIRS (except laundry)

1. Clean steps, floors, etc., vacuum and/or wash.	Once per week

2. Generally straighten things when possible.		As time permits

3. Clean toilet.					As needed

4. Empty grocery bags onto shelves.			As needed

5. Occasionally rearrange shelves.			Occasionally


LAUNDRY

1. Sort laundry as follows:				As needed

				   Temp.  PreWash?  Other
   a) Whites and light colored      40�     yes     Use Enka & fabric soft.
   b) Coloreds and wool		   cold     yes   
      (all of my husbands shirts and
       socks are in this category)
   c) Jeans, black t-shirts 	   cold	    yes
      and sweatshirts
   d) Red or Pink		   cold     yes
      (NEVER wash with anything else)
   e) Bedding and tablecloths	    50�      no    Pretreat stains
   f) Towels			    50�      no    MUST go in dryer
   g) Cleaning rags and sponges	    60�      no
   h) Dogs bedding				   Wash separately

2. NEVER put anything of my husband's in the dryer.

3. Bedding, cleaning rags, etc. should be hung (outside
   in good weather).  Other things should be hung 
   if possible.  Do not leave wet laundry in the 
   machine.

4. Clean the dryer sieve before each load.  Only 1
   wash load fits in the dryer at a time.

5. Clean the washing machine sieve.		 	Once a month

6. Hand wash my stockings.

7. Soak boys socks (right side out) in eau de javel	As needed
   (bleach).

8. Iron everything but socks, towels, underwear, and
   cleaning rags.  Turn off iron before unplugging.
   Leave mending upstairs.

9. Clean laundry room shelves.				Occasionally


OUTSIDE

1. Clean front door and doorstep.			As needed

2. Clean stairs to basement.				Occasionally

3. Clean terrace.					Occasionally

4. Clean aluminum ledge and venetian blinds.		Occasionally

    My housekeeper came three times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
    for four house each time for a total of 12 hours per week.  Up until
    this year I had been paying about $11.50 per hour.  The Portuguese lady
    I had worked non stop during this period.  She was very good but left
    to go back to Portugual at Christmas.
    
    The new girl I have (Phillipine) is not nearly so good and takes about
    $13.00 the hour.  I was happy to be able to cut back to 4 hours a week
    which is just enough to catch up on the things I don't manage to do
    myself. Like today I had her wash all the windows and do all the
    ironing.
    
    And yes, most things get done with the frequency on the list although
    some things I only need to do once a week because I do a more thorough
    job than the cleaning lady. :-)

    I have been wondering about doing this also.  If anyone can send mail

    I really need someone to come in and wash/wax the hardwood and bathroom
    floors, wipe down baseboards, get rid of cobwebs and really clean the
    kitchen cabinets and appliances.  
    
    I just called a place in Littleton and was told around 70-100 for this
    cleaning.  Is this correct?

    We are preparing to move and would like to have the house we are moving
    into cleaned.  It hasn't really been occupied much in the last year.
    It shouldn't be a huge undertaking in such that the walls will have
    been freshly painted and the hardwood floors are being redone now.  I
    think largely it's scrubbing the bathrooms, doing the windows, which
    likely haven't been touched in years and general stuff like that.  We
    are so busy packing and cleaning the house we are vacating that we
    thought it might be worth looking into a 1 time service.  This would be
