113.0. "Baby Harness?" by CSOMKT::SKUPIEN (DTN 264-0767, MK2-2/D10) Fri May 15 1992 15:10

    Does anyone know where I can buy a harness for a 16 month old. Not the
    wrist kind, but the one that goes on the torso. I need something so
    that the baby can walk around -- he absolutley hates to ride in the
    stroller.

113.1Sears has themASABET::MACGILLIVARYFri May 15 1992 16:016
    It just so happens that my mother in law bought one last night. She
    found it at Sears at the Pheasant Lane Mall. ( She looked many places
    before finding one). I imagine all Sears would carry them. It was in
    the baby department hanging on the wall with the bottle supplies, etc.

    You might have to ask the salesperson as it was not easy to find.
113.2Right Start CatalogASABET::CARTERFri May 15 1992 16:1410
    I saw one in a catalog - The Right Start - I got the order book by
    dialing 1-800-little-1. Which I got from the last version of this
    conference. I got the catalog just a few days after calling and it
    had a $4.00 coupon off my first purchase. I haven't bought anything
    from it because we are still debating what things we want so I don't
    know how their service/quality is.

    It was the harness for the waist and looked comfortable.

    Good luck - Tracy
113.3It was the harness typeASABET::MACGILLIVARYFri May 15 1992 16:297
    I forgot to mention in .1 that it was the torso harness that my mother
    in law found at Sears. My daughter is 9 months old and is starting to
    stand while being walked in the carriage. The harness can be arranged
    so it attaches to the carriage on both sides so if she trys to stand
    she cannot fall out of the carriage. We also intend to use it when
    she is walking.

113.4another use for harnessTNPUBS::STEINHARTLauraFri May 15 1992 17:174
    My sister-in-law always used a harness to attach her son to the
    stroller. She lives in New York City and was afraid of kidnapping.
    It's enough to slow someone down if she turns her back for a moment
    while shopping.
113.5Lots of places ... (my kid hated the wrist version, but didn't mind the "chest" versionCALS::JENSENMon May 18 1992 16:549
Calvert's (Shrewsbury) had real nice ones.

I also found the "zip front" (which is best when used as a "zip back") in
Caldor's and Bradlee's (so the other department stores should carry them, too)

... and ChildWorld.
