| It is protein spill into the urine! What happens is your kidneys do
not function properly (or well enough) and the bacteria overflows into
your blood.
It can cause swelling, fast excessive weight gain, and high blood
pressure. If not monitored properly, it can cause convulsions,
pre-mature labor/delivery, and still birth.
Now that I have scared you half to death... relax! If your Dr.
suspects Toxemia, he will keep an eye on you, either at home with bed
rest, or in the hospital (as I was for 17 days before my daughter was
born).... if he feels it is getting out of hand, he may suggest a "C"
section.
For some strange reason, the toxemia goes away almost immediately
after the birth of the child. Weird stuff!!!!
