    Since I'm working in Oakland for a while, I thought I'd try something
    besides the beach (still kinda cool for my preferences). I called the
    number listed in the rec.nude notes for Lupin resort. A woman answered,
    and told me they were open 7 days a week year round. If I was coming on
    Saturday, and could get there around eleven for a tour, the price was
    $10. Normal price per day is $20, $15 with a membership card anywhere
    (ASA, TNS etc.)
    
    I arrived about 10:30 and filled out a card. You need some picture ID,
    which I think they use to determine whether you live within 100 miles.
    If you do, there are restrictions as to visiting without becoming a
    member.
    
    The tour is done nude. After it, the entire place is C/O. They have two
    pools, two hot tubs, tennis, volleyball, shuffleboard, camping, trails,
    a restaurant and a playground. There are lots of families with children
    as members. 
    
    The resort is divided into "quiet" and "General" areas. The trailers
    and "older folks" down below. The pool here is covered by a roof until
    May, and the water is warm. Above is where the noise and children are,
    as well as the other pool (Brrrrrr). Both have a hot tub nearby.
    
    I walked the trails, laid in the sun, swam and soaked all day long. The
    people are very friendly, the staff is very professional, the grounds
    are beautiful and well maintained. I recommend a visit by anyone
    stopping by the Bay area.
    
    By the way, Lupin was severely damaged in the Loma Prieta (-sp) quake.
    The restaurant is brand new (3 weeks). The pools are both fixed and
    there is lots of building and moving and remodeling going on. This
    gives the place a community "feel" as everyone is proud of the work
    done, as well as what is going on and to come in the future.
    
    A few years before the quake, there was a serious wild fire in the
    Santa Cruz mountains. Lupin was directly in its path, but the local
    fire chief was a member and made the grounds his headquarters to battle
    the blaze. This kept it from burning down. As such, smoking is not
    allowed  on the nature trails or in any building.
