398.0. "Good guys win one!" by DECWET::SCHMUHL (Larry Schmuhl) Tue Feb 09 1993 21:01
A lawsuit a Duvall man filed against a Snoqualmie-area nudist camp
after it stripped him of his membership has been thrown out by a King
County Superior Court judge who termed it "frivolous."
Randy Roeges, a Duvall fire comissioner, had sued the Fraternity
Snoqualomie because the family-oriented nudist camp had allowed a
photographer to take pictures in the camp. Roeges, who acted as his own
attorney, said the camp was endorsing pornography.
But camp president Dick Love, said Roeges was kicked out of the camp
because people couldn't get along with him. The camp is located just
off I90 and has been in operation for more than 50 years.
King County Superior Court Judge Jerome Johnson said in a written
decision that he found Roeges' claim about being dismissed from the
club "frivilous" and he ordered Roeges to pay court costs. Johnson said
Roeges should have taken his complaint to the club's board of directors
before taking it to court.
Love said the club spent $7.000.00 to $10,000.00 in attorney fees to
defend itself and they planned to collect the money from Roeges. "We're
not a rich club and that represents a lot of working capitol for us"
Love said.
