A friend of mine asked me if I knew about posing nude for art classes. I have no idea, but being nice (and being a DECCie) I figured I'd check for her on the notes file! I remember someone posting something about posing nude recently but I didn't see any topics regarding it. She could use a part time job, is a naturist, doesn't have problems sitting still for long periods of time, and is in nice shape ... so it seems as if it might be a good possibility. so - does anyone know if/how: Because its nude, are there more opportunities? Does it pay better? (well?) How would one get into posing nude, or finding more info about it? (especially for the MA / boston area) Does anyone have any experiences they could share (pointers to notes?) Thanks for any info! paul

A friend of mine is an artist and mentioned painting with nude models. A call to the art department at any college should yield some results. I remember someone taking a photo class at Tufts where they brought in a nude model, so I would imagine that their painting, drawing, and/or sculpting (sp?) classes might also use nude models. Also, some small groups of artists might just hire someone to come in for a small informal drawing sessions. If interested, I can check with that friend. B. | |||||

I can help you if your in the southern NH area. I have been modeling for four years at various art classes. I started at Nashua Center of Arts. This was both clothed and nude. However nude pays more. ($15. an hour) I also work at Rivier College and Sharon Arts Center. I have also been hired by groups of artist for sittings where they do not want to have instructed classes. It helps to have another model get you into the school as they do not usually hire off the street. I do not recommend photo classes as you never know what will become of the photos down the road. There are various times for these classes, such as Saturday mornings, evening classes, etc. If your friend would like to try modeling, have her try it with someone who is already modeling. This will give her experiance and the help of understanding if this is what she really wants to do. Hope this helps, and any other info needed, just ask.........cwc |
