363.0. "Horrors! Naked people!" by MOIRA::FAIMAN (light upon the figured leaf) Wed Apr 08 1992 16:29
The latest issue of _Bare in Mind_ has a batch of newspaper articles about
a controversy in Lake Elsinore, California, where a local bowling alley
was hosting a nude bowling league, with teams from three area nudist camps,
and local religious leaders were mightily upset. "'This is disgusting,' said
Pastor Richard Alvarez of Lakeland Christian Fellowship. 'It's against
everything God stands for.'"
But my favorite comment was "Kim Conwell, who attends Hilbrant's church, said
she was looking forward to taking her children to the bowling alley until her
friend told her about the Sun Bunch. 'There's not a lot of things you can do
with your family here,' Conwell said. 'But I don't want to go there if there
have been naked people in there.'"
"'This is not just a Christian issue. All people that hold values for family
and morals are upset about this,' Hilbrant said."
Sigh.

| Apparently these holy people were born with clothes on. It is too bad
that people are always in a rush judge situations that they are
ignorant of, without researching the facts. These are generally the
same kind of people who want to send you to heaven without knowing the
way there themselves. Nudism is another aspect of humanity that could
be seen as product of God. It depends on how one looks at it.

I am a Christian and I really don't see any problem
with naked people. I prefere it myself.

363.3 | We are talking about a particular brand of religion. | HPSRAD::JWILLIAMS | John Williams Cirrus 297-6141 | Wed May 27 1992 17:31 | 8 |
| The kind that uses "God" as a shortcut to thinking. There are obviously many
religious people who have thought very hard about "God" and the meaning of
life, but unfortunately they are the only ones who know when it is appropriate
to keep their mouths shut.
I like to put it this way: You less you know, the more you think you know.
John.
