I certainly hope that county doesn't include the Miami Beach area, ...
The Southern Miami Beach area is making a huge turn around ... and
becomming very popular with tourists. I would venture to say bans
like that would severly hurt the area.
I saw a show on the south Miami Beach area .. which used to be all
crack houses. Now they have renovated the Art Decco district along
the beach .. its absolutely gorgeous. Its made a huge turn around ..
could see it going down the tubes again if people like those in the
  base note had there way.
Hey, ... I just assume that people with the basenote mentality
get the crack houses .. I'll take the people in the thongs any day!
The south Miami Beach area government is thinking about banning
tight bathing suits on men, because the Canadian men that come down
tend to have very large beer bellies .. and when they wear the tight
bathing suits it accentuates the belly.
Hmmmm, ... sounds like a pretty stupid argument to me!

I just came back from Florida and saw *one* topless woman on the
South Beach area of Miami Beach. She was drawing such stares I
don't know how she withstood all the attention. I couldn't have
    taken the pressure.

Also, two topless women on the town beach in Key West. I stuck to
    the deck at the guest house I was staying at :-}

| | Sue, I hope that the stares and lack of freedom are simply because of
the cultural background of the people visiting Miami Beach at that
    time.

I go to Miami Beach almost every year, between Christmas and New Years.
Over the years, the area between 4'th (the Art Deco area) and 21'st has
become progresively more tolerant of more toplessness and thongs on
both genders. The stares are no longer noticable, as they once were.
Then again, this is a time of year when there is a larger European
    population in the area.

I also am fond of observing the retired folks who live in the Miami
Beach hotels and walk the area. In spite of their New York background,
I have yet to see them stare or complain about the new freedoms being
enjoyed. They usually complain about the management of their hotel
letting tourists in, as if any tourist is a second class citizen.

Sue, on my way to the keys in June. I too stop at Miami beach and walk out
to the dunes. I was standing next to one of those chairs they have out there
and this little blonde got up, look me in the eye and then took her top off.
and then laid back down on the chair. I took a walk along the water and then
came back (my car was in that area) and didn't see too many people looking at
her. which I thought was pretty nice. and the beach was pretty crowded too!
I wasn't aware that you could go topless on that beach ?

In the original post, the ban on t-back suits stated they were banned
in Hillsborough County. I guess that acroos the bay in Pinellas County it's
still OK. Driving through Largo on the way to Tampa airport, a pair of lovely
young ladies were still selling their hot-dogs while clad in these wonderful
suits. And this was on one of the main routes. I wonder if you can purchase
the hot-dog if you are attired the same way.

I was under the impression that the beach in front of the art-decco
(sp?) section of miami was pretty much topless, and it was OK.
This I heard from a couple people, and it sounds correct, since
the area realys heavily on tourism, and doesn't want to drive away
    europeen tourists.

Is that the south section of miami beach?? I would love to go there,
but really would prefer to find a nice area that is C/O.

Last September, on the day I was at South Beach (Miami Beach in the
Art Deco section), I only saw one woman who was topless and she had
her share of gawkers to put up with.

But, my one visit, does not a fair observation, make.

..just back yesterday from two weeks away :-( :-(

| | I'm pretty sure Haulover Beach in Miami is still completely CO. I
loved it when I was there in February, no problems at all... I was
with a large group of Naturists from the Midwinter Naturist Gathering
so that might have made a difference but I'd go back anytime even
without a crowd. I have no idea what part of Miami Haulover is in
    though.
