    Issue 10.2 of N&N (see note 10.15) describes the formation of the
    Naturist Action Committee.  Organizationally, this is a branch of
    the Naturist Society ("the Naturist Society now comprises The
    Naturists, Inc. [which publishes _Nude and Natural_ and _the World
    Guide_] together with the Naturist Action Committee.")  Unlike The
    Naturists, NAC will be independent and democratic, with an elected
    board of directors.

    The interim board of directors (pending elections next year) is
    impressive, including many of the big names in the naturist movement.
    The new committee's objectives are impressive:  lobbying to circumvent
    new anti-nudity legislation, and to encourage legislation and
    regulations more sympathetic to naturism; supporting local groups as
    they attempt to defend existing c/o sites or establish new ones;
    supporting topfree equality initiatives; providing legal references and
    guidance for naturist legal actions; participating directly in critical
    court cases; working with other organizations (recreation, environment,
    civil liberties, arts, etc.) in areas of common concern; promoting the
    naturist cause in the public eye through public relations and training
    individuals to be effective spokespeople.

    To support these objectives, the Committee is attempting to raise a
    Naturist Action Fund of $300,000(!).  Personally, I will be
    contributing to the fund:  it sounds like these people actually know
    what they are trying to do and how they are trying to do it.

    I agree most strongly with Neil.  The Naturist Action Committee could
    be the mechanism to reverse the serious setback of nudist interests
    experienced this past decade.  
    
    The formula is straight-forward ... legal agenda, organization,
    accountability, money to support it all ... and most importantly, grass
    roots involvement on the part of each of us, meaning you and me.
    
    How is it possible in the most democratic country in the world that you
    can be cited for 'embarrassing' someone with your nudity as recently
    reported by a North Carolina reader?  The battle of the 90's isn't just
    for our incremental rights as nudists, it's for our fundamental rights
    as humans.  Let's push back on the police state!
    
    I'm supporting NAC, with dollars and with time.  I can think of no
    better project for this group to get involved with.
