Conrad and next week I'll try to get down and see what
I can work out on price.

to join and bring the wife in as a

little leverage. I would like to knock off $50.

right.

250.4 | Visit report | CSC32::GORTMAKER | whatsa Gort? | Thu Jun 07 1990 03:21 | 30 |
| I went, I saw, I had a great time!
Ok as promised here is there report.
The drive is an easy 40 minute trip from my home 30 if you don't count
the detour I have to make around Fort Carson this would probably be
even less but there was road construction work going on in 2 places
on hiway 115 with several minute waits at each.
DRBC is located just outside Wet on about 80 acres of land the area
is typical high desert. There are 0 trees that I saw the only shade was
provided by an awning over part of the pool. The facility is a
reception area and changing/restroom one for men and one for women.
There are two pools one that is roughly 2' deep and the cooler of the
two the water was just right in this pool. The second smaller pool
has a max depth of about 5'9" the water here was a tad warm for a
day with temp's near 85.
There were about 20 people there including 1 small girl about 8 years
old visiting with her parents from swede I This is CO for sure with some
wearing full suits though most were sans suit.
One pleasant suprise of the day was when I ran into the wife(now
ex-wife) of a manager I worked for at a company prior to my joining
DEC.
I will try to add more later I just took a power hit and lost the
connect thankfuly CSC32 diden't kill my process 8^)

| We made it to the DRBC on the way back from Valley View. Stopped in to check
out the facilities, generally see what this was all about. DRBC is more
towards Portland than Wetmore. Take Hiway 115 south as if going to Florence.
At the Florence Water Treatment plant (just after you cross the Arkansas River)
take a left onto County Rd 120 towards Portland. Travel approx 1.2 miles, you
will see a sign to the Domtar Gypsum Plant on the left and DRBC signs on the
right. Turn RIGHT onto County Rd 110 and follow the DRBC signs for approx one
mile.
I'll have extra copies of the brochure if you'd like one.
We found probably about 20 or so people enjoying themselves either in the
shallow pool, playing volleyball or lounging in the sun. 4 women, the rest
men. Some very crispy-crittered. :-(....
They have a beautiful view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range. They ask
to leave pets at home, but if they are brought along, leave them at the
vehicle. Since no overnight camping is allowed, there really isn't a need
to bring Rover along, unless it's totally spoiled! ;-)
DRBC is available for one-day rentals for private parties. Want to have a
NATURISM party hosted by the Colorado group? :-) They have a nice sodded
area for laying around on.
The water comes out of the ground at 130 degrees! The temperature is adjusted
to maintain a comfortable bathing temperature. Larry (one of the owners) said
the water is a little more bubbly than VV, but still does NOT have a foul smell
to it (like VV).
No glass is allowed around the club area so bring a Nalgene (plastic) bottle
for wine or other drinks bottled in glass. You can bring along picnic items
and eat inside club grounds as long as there are no glass containers.
With the membership rates like they are, if we were to join it would be the
limited membership. The rates are like Phil said earlier:
Unlimited use:
single - $20 month ($240 yr)
family - $27 month ($324 yr)
Long distance (75 miles plus) unlimited use:
single - $10 month ($120 yr)
family - $12 month ($144 yr)
Senior citizens unlimited use:
single - $10 month ($120 yr)
family - $12 month ($144 yr)
Guests - $5 per visit
Limited membership: $50/yr plus $10 per visit
If one of us was to get the limited membership and we visit only once a month
throughout the year (12 visits in all), we'd spend only $230/yr vs $324/yr.
$50 for the membership, plus $10 x 12 visits per year for the member, plus
$5 x 12 visits for the guest. I doubt if we'd make it down there more than
12 times a year, since there is really nothing to do there besides volleyball,
horseshoes, darts, sun, or soak. No nude hiking like VV.
You can pay the memberships in the form of direct transfers using Visa, Master-
card, or bank accounts, in addition to the usual check, credit card or cash.
BTW, we received a free pass to come back and check the place out. Had on one
of my Digital t-shirts. Wonder if that made a difference? ;-)

250.8 | How about a newcommer?... | CSC32::K_JOHNSON | It's only natural! | Tue Jul 24 1990 03:11 | 19 |

I'm new to the conference, and new to Colorado Springs, but not new to
DEC (11yrs), and not new to the simple pleasures of being "au natural"!
Even though I havn't met (to my knowledge) anyone in this conference,
as I've read through your notes, I feel as if I have, in some way,
gotten aquainted with many of you (especially judy, whose effervescent
personality defies the constraints of a mere note :), or our moderator
neil, whose common-sense comments and light handed moderation helps
make this file so much fun to read.
And so, even if a bit presumptuously, and by way of introduction,
I'd like to add, that I too, would be interested in trying out a
new sunbathing destination, and would welcome the opertunity to
meet some the the noters whose discussions I've so throughly
enjoyed, perhaps in a group outing (the more the merrier!).

| Mike,
If you only knew how badly I have wanted to get down there the last
few weekends. I've been adding on a greenhouse to my home the last few
weekends and it has really cut into my rec time in a big way.
I think I'm past due to blow off responcibility and get down there
maybe sunday. The only thing that has kept me away so far is thinking
how nice it will be come winter time to have a warm sunny place to go
to when is 10 below and snowy outside.

250.12 | Anyone up for a group outing? | CSC32::GORTMAKER | Whatsa Gort? | Tue Apr 28 1992 17:32 | 13 |
| Well spring is finally here and even though I've been down to DRBC
several times already this year I haven't seen any of my fellow deccies
yet. So what about another scheduled day? Anyone up to the idea of a
group heading down? We could maybe do a small BBQ and if enough show up
have our own V-ball team to challange a game?
Send mail if you are interested and what date in may(not the 16th)
whould be best for you.

| Yep, I think you have to be a guest of a member to go. We are members of VV
so if a 300 mile trip isn't too much for you, maybe we can squeeze some time
in and go to Valley View for a day. That would be a nice break for us.

Round trip. It's about 3 hours to there and 3 hours back. Slow, winding roads.
