Same goes for me, ... I'm jeleous too!
Hot tubs don't seem to be as common back here in New England,
but it sure would be nice if someone did have a hot tub party
around here (Marlboro area, MA)
Well, I'll just have to wait till I can afford one of my own!
Then, .... your all invited!

I don't know about organized private parties, but Lupin (ASA club) in
Los Gatos has a couple of nice tubs. $10 day fee for naturists/ASA
members, $15 for others (actually these fees are for 100+ miles).
I was in Mountain View for a meeting a few weeks ago, and when we were
done I headed over to Lupin with a couple of (formerly non-nudie)
DECies. It was a great time, louinging in the hot tub during 30-40
degree temps.

219.3 | A possible solution...go portable! | GENRAL::KILGORE | Coyote Clan Member | Sun Feb 25 1990 22:05 | 43 |
| I posted this in the RV notesfile also....
Enjoy a relaxing hot tub massage --- wherever you travel with a portable Hot
Tub! It's the first complete, portable Spa/Hot Tub! Perfect for the RVer!
This inflatable spa is great for soothing arthritis pain, tired muscles or
simply to relax! Indulge in the circulating hot water mixed with jetted air
that generates a hot water massage with gentle healing therapy. What a great
treat after a long day's drive! Set-up is quick and simple in less than 30
minutes with no tools necessary. Patented, inflatable honeycombed design gives
the soft vinyl tub strong support making it safe and comfortable for your
recreation. Bottom layer of foam makes for comfortable sitting and protects
against puncture from sharp objects on the ground. When disassembled, it
stores compactly in your RV. Portable tub comes with cover to keep water clean
and heat in, insulating pad and carrying bag. The control pack, operating with
115V AC with 12 ft. power cord, includes heater or heat exchanger, pump filter,
air switch, ground fault-circuit interrupter, thermostat with safety shut-off
and spigot for draining with garden hose. Light Gray tub is constructed of
durable 25 gauge, heavy-duty PVC vinyl and measures 5' in dia. when assembled
to hold up to three adults comfortably. (Requires a 6' x 8' area for complete
set up.) One year mfr. warranty. Wt 80 lbs. Mail Order Only.
9405 Portable Hot Tub $1495.00
(P.C. Members $1345.50)
* This oversize item requires an additional $5.00 shipping.
For you RVers...
Can you imagine this? Hot tubbing out in the middle of no where? I don't
think the 12 foot power cord will reach Blanding (which is about 30 or so
miles from where we camp in Utah) & where the he** are we going to get the
water......note, there is no mention of how much it takes to fill this sucker
up! And can you imagine an RV park owner's look when you pulled it out to set
it up?
I found this in the latest Camping World catalog, just inside the front cover.
From the looks of the picture, there'd be more than enough room for 4 people...
unless you don't like to touch your tub companions skin (heaven forbid!) that
is sitting next to you! ;-)
This may be the perfect solution for those that don't have the space for a
permanant tub. Not sure how durable it would be, you may get to test the one
year warranty out!

| Judy, it might be a little ruff having a hot tub party out in the woods with
one of those portable tubs unless you bought a $300. generator, or you
have a long extention cord. If you pull into an AKA camp site that might be
interesting. I had the opertunity to see one of those tubs when I bought mine
and I thought they were way over priced.

Judy,
The tub would probably require 200 gallons of water.
You would have to fill it with warmed water, unless you
are willing to wait a day or so for the heater to warm it.
How big are those RV heaters....
Unless you like realy cool(cold) water or be willing to use a
scuba wet suit for the first day... but that wouldn't be CO now would it.

| Judy, when you use a 210 volt heater like I have in my tub, and you
start out with 70 degree water it only heats about 3 degrees an hour.
Alos if you had 4 people in the tub you could never hold temperature.
Most of these small tub the heater and pump would cost you $200 to $300.
You would be better off if you bought a kiddy pool and threw in some hot
water. Even better just spend time at VV what the hell.
Sounds like you are starting to feel better now Judy? Have fun on your
vacation.

| Hey Ron,
There are some good places in your own back yard. Specifically:
Relax In Fairfax (415) 453-5276 and
Shibui Gardens in San Anselmo (415) 457-0283
Each of them have a number of Tubs with showers and associated
ammenities. I prefer Relax In Fairfax since it has larger redwood
tubs, but they're both nice for a relaxing evening with friends(Shibui
has a cold plunge if you're into that sort of thing.
Enjoy!

| Hot tub South West is now open.
I recently agreed to purchase a hot tub from a friend
for the cost of moving it. After cutting out my deck,
leveling the ground, framing in the area, pouring the
concrete, hiring a crane, lifitng it over my two story
condo, replacing the redwood sides, a new blower, running
a gas line, running 220v etc. etc, I am now the owner
of a "new" 8 person hot tub (often called a cuddle puddle).
When any of you happen to be in the Southern Cal. area
for business or otherwise please contact me and we'll
see if we can get a quorum for a puddle party. That
means if you come to Irvine (IVO), Costa Mesa (CWO),
Los Angeles (LAO), or San Diego (SDO) please call.
Send me mail on THEWAV::KIRK.

RE: -1
> Bill-who-likes-Blacks-Beach-&-Pirates-Cove
Have you tried San Onofre yet?
I don't know where you're at in So. Cal. but San Onofre is about half
way between Pirates Cove in P.V. and Blacks Beach down in San Diego.
The 'liberated' part of the beach is actually the very north end of
Camp Penelton (sp?). To get there you go to the campground at San
Onofre State Beach (just south of San Clemente, last exit - Basoline Rd
- before the marine base starts). Drive through the campground area to
the very south end and park. (Note that the campground is south of the
power plant) Take one of the dirt trails to the beach then head south a
little farther to the fence that seperates the state beach from the
Marine base. Just the other side of the fence, on federal property, is
the spot. Its far enough away from any Marine activty that its use is
tolerated, although every once in a while an MP will come through and
ask every to move to the north of the fence to the state property,
which is done until the MP leaves.
BTW, happy tubbing.

Got a catalog from a company called "The Sporting Edge" today...
They offer a portable "Softub"...220 gallons, 110V house current,
6-inches of foam insulation, four water jets powered by a 1 hp motor.
Thermostat sets to 104 degrees. $1795.95...wow...lotsa bucks!
It didn't say how long it took to heat up...
...oh wait...it comes with a 6 inch foam thermal cover to save the
heat and electricity. Fits four in a 2-feet high by 6 foot diameter.

It looks like it's inflatable, but I think that it's really the insulation.
It looks very rounded, like an inner tube...
If you have a deck, it might be convenient since you could move it outside in
the summer and inside during the winter, though Phil proved that hottubbing
outside during the winter *IS* pretty nice.

Using one of those hot tub in an apartment might be a little touchy. The
amount of water you are talking about could cause some stress on the
floors, you might want to ask first. As for putting it on a deck in an
apartment I've never seen to many decks that could take 1000 pounds or better.
It always best to chech first.
Ben its warmed up since you been here. How's it going?

| Posted for a conference reader who prefers to remain anonymous.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I visited San Onofre State Beach over the weekend, and here's an updated
report:
DIRECTIONS:
From I-5 south, take the first exit south of San Clemente, it's marked
San Onofre. Be careful, if you miss it, the next exit isn't for many
miles. Head south, past the San Onofre nuclear power plant (hard to miss)
to enter the state park. Pay the day use fee of $6. Continue south past
the campgrounds for three miles until the road ends at Camp Pendleton.
Park and take the trail west to the beach. Note that the most direct
trail near the end of the road is marked closed with a fence; it is,
however, still quite navigable. It follows a canyon down the bluffs.
WHAT'S THERE:
The CO beach is on the border of the state beach and Camp Pendleton Marine
base. Yesterday, most of the 200-300 people were actually on the state
beach side of the fence. I'm not sure of the CO legality, but the lifeguard
didn't seem to mind. (Unsure if I was at the right place when I drove into
the park, I asked the ranger if there was a CO beach here. She replied,
"You didn't hear it from me!").
The beach is physically similar to Black's, shallow and smooth, with
bluffs up above. The crowd was low-key and seemed to have less of the
carnival atmosphere of Black's. There were few, if any, gawkers; just
serious naturists. While this was a weekend, the lifeguard indicated that
the crowd was similar during the week, and didn't thin out like the textile
beach to the north.
All-in-all, a thoroughly enjoyable day.
