	Having re-read .0, I think I'd better clarify that I'm looking
	for something to sunbathe in, not sexy underwear!

Several U.S. mailorder catalogs have them.  The one I am looking at right now
called Undergear, has one but it has a fancy ruffle on the back-side.  Can you 
imagine what a weird tan you would get from that?  They also have a tan-thru
bikini.  Would you be interested in some addresses?

    Thanks for your reply. Yes, fancy ruffles are definitely OUT! (A tan-thru 
    bikini could be useful though). Let's see if anyone in the UK can point me 
    in the right direction first, (they must be available here, surely?) I 
    thought these things were made as beachwear, but perhaps I'm wrong.

    My boyfriend is also looking for something similar (again, minus ruffles!).

    What we need is something just a bit more 'decent' than nothing, because 
    we're going to Greece, wanting to get an all-over tan, likely to be using 
    *unofficial* nudist beaches, and don't want to end up being arrested!

    I'll get back to you if I can't find anything a bit closer to home.

But seriously, if you look in the news papers, usualy Saturday/Sunday you 
can find mail order catalogues.

    I have a Fredericks of Hollywood catalog that i'll send you.
    It has several simple (no Frills) thongs for both males and
    females and they are made of the "tan through" material.

    although I'm not in the UK, I'm a bit closer than Frederick's of
    Hollywood (la Suisse, in fact).  I wear strings to sunbathe when I
    must, and usually wear them as underwear.  There is a chain of
    inexpensive, rather faddy clothing stores called Hennes and Mauritz
    (sp) which usual has a store in every major European city. I'm not sure
    about London, but look in the yellow pages.  To get to the point, H&M
    sells super 100% cotton strings in a variety of colors as underwear.  I
    buy them to wear as both under and outer wear...I normally wear the
    darker colors to sunbathe in...can't see through the fronts.  They cost
    around 9 SFr each (that's about 3 �), are plain (no ruffles), small
    (for that almost_all_over_tan effect) and they stretch enough in the
    right places 8*) for my husband to wear (he does have very slender hips
    though)...
    
    If you've no luck there, perhaps I can buy some here in Geneva and send
    them your way...or, better yet, give me a call and I'll give you the
    name and number of someone who works @HHL who knows where to find them
    in London (I know this because I saw them with my very own eyes)..I
    don't want to give her name out over the conference as I'm not sure
    she'd feel comfortable being mentioned here.

    I've been looking around some sort of thong, too.  Something to wear
    to just be 1% over legal when I have to be so that I can maintain my
    all-over tan...
    
    Judy, if the catalogs you mentioned have anything appropriate for
    a guy ( i.e. no ruffles! ) then send ( or post? ) the addresses.
    
    Bill, does Frederick's have an 800 number that I can call and have
    a catalog sent to me?  Tan-through material sounds good!
    
    Something like what Lillian described ( cotton, good for under OR
    outer wear, and relatively appropriate for a guy to wear ) sounds
    good except that I'm in California...

The Spring 1990 `Undergear' catalog says on the front....

.... it has 13 pages dedicated to women's swim and workout wear.
AND....38 pages of stuff for men!  The men's wear do cover the
buttocks completely, I believe, (it is rare to see back views...;-) )

The numbers came from a March 1988 posting in the catalogs notesfile.  Sorry
about that.  I usually get those catalogs so when I get a new one, I'll post

    Just got J. Holder's catalog and there was nothing in there
    for men, suits that is. :-) However, now that I know San Onofre
    (CO Beach) is just a few miles away maybe it won't be a problem.

    	For those of you near MRO.
    	My wife frequently gets a of clothes or underwear or
    bathing suits up from Brasil. The Brasilieri girls in the
    area divvy these things up. If anyone wants to get a look
    at this years swim suits mail me and I'll get back to you
    when it happens. These are always high quality nice prints
    and styles, they aren't g-strings as the back is around a
    half inch wide. She was too embarrassed to go to the beach
    in an American swim suit, said she looked like she was wearing
    a diaper.

	Thanks again (Neil?) for the address, we managed to get what we 
	wanted from Intersparta. Most of their stuff is for men (about 2 
	pages of women's gear, 11 pages for men). They seem pretty 
	amateurish for a company that's been around since 1963, but the 
	things we got were fine.

	We're off to Greece next week to try them out, can't wait!!

    You are going to have a wonderful time in Greece. After an unsuccessful 
    start a few years ago, nudism is now allowed in two or three super
    spots. The scenery is out of this world. Greece is about to be REALLY
    discovered. Wish I could go this year.

    I have a lady in my group that just made me a thong swim suit and it
    fits great. The price was $10.00 and the color was bright lime green.
